It is not. I sold mine and bought a 32gb. It was good for my office stuff in the first couple of weeks and then it slow down quite a bit. The memory is always taken up at 6gb. Anyone saying 8gb is enough for office is BS. It's not even enough for 10 tab in chrome.
Just some fact before air fanboy insist that it's good enough. It is not. It id NOT.
8GB is enough in a windows laptop for productivity, let alone a MacBook. Macbooks handle RAM more efficiently than windows laptops. People who buy 8GB RAM laptops know their limits quite well.
I have been using a windows laptop with I5-1135G7/8/512 (acer spin 3 to be specific) for the past 1.5 years and I have more than 10 tabs open almost constantly (in edge, not chrome though). I only do productive work or consume media, and for that it's enough for me. I know my limitations and so this laptop has held up very nicely without any major or annoying hiccups. My brother owns the 2020 MacBook air with 8GB of RAM and it has been perfect for him, too, since almost 2 years.
Simply put, cut the 8GB ram BS and preach this cool-aid elsewhere.

nobody has the scammy best buy total membership hence the number of upvotes here
It's not that scammy if you use it
B2G1 switch games, included wall mount services, this, also applecare+ for as long as you have total tech etc. it's a rip if you don't use it but it's pretty fair if you do those few things

I thought they got rid of the wall mount services?

oh i remember total tech.. didn't best buy create that in order to scam ppl during the GPU shortage? you had to buy total tech for like $300 in order to buy any GPU
People who thinks 8gb is enough has clearly been brainwashed by apple
Most AIR users use it for productivity and media consumption, evyone else use pro for rendering etc. So yes its more than enough. Coming from a 15 yr windows user with one mac.

Fat check. Windows or Google Chromebooks 8GB RAM performance versus Apple 8GB RAM performance with the M chip with Office installed is no comparison. I have the M1 mac mini with same specs and Office installed. Apple machine works like a beast even with 8GB of RAM. Only way you can see a difference is if you're a heavy power user. Just keep in mind that the M chip helps substantially. Windows machine with 8GB RAM will suck the performance due to background apps running. Apple MAC with 8GB non-issue and performs like a boss! M chip is revolutionary!

I believe it was $200 and they did the same with the ps5. Needed total tech to buy ps5
And then Walmart started their Walmart+ service in order to purchase the ps5
