read the reviews. if you use this a lot and are rough with it the thin plastic housing will crack and break.

Also I've had great burst writes but writing any large files takes foreverrrrr on this drive.

The write speeds are abysmal. I the 128gb version and it's useless. If you want to copy a movie it can take from 30 to 40 minutes.

I have this terrible habit of collecting thumb drives. Not sure if this is worth going for compared to the Samsung metal one.

I used this to hold music files in my vehicle, it died after 2 years of use. For this price though, I might just get another....

For a car it is best to use USB 2 sticks as they run much cooler even if it takes forever and a day to fill them up.

Exactly the thing I was wondering about it compared to. The Samsung one seems like it may be more durable, which I would potentially just toss mine on my keys, so durability probably is a helpful factor.

I wonder how this would be for a raspberry pi 4 drive. Or general emulation OS boot drive for an old laptop. I just bought the full-size Sandisks from the Walmart deal for about the same price. Don't want to be a hoarder, but these smaller drives would have less chance of being bumped/broken.

Bad. I've tried it. The write speed is abysmal, and it will overheat quickly.

The metal drives work better, because the metal gives the heat somewhere to go.

Thanks! Won't waste time and money on this then. Maybe next year 512Gb full-sized drives will be this price. Or cheapo NVMEs and external cases (wishful thinking).

I bought mine months ago to transfer over a bunch of movies, but with how painfully slow the transfer speed is I completely gave up on it. It's perfectly fine if you're just using it for basic things like documents etc, but anything large forget it.

I actually think the cheapo NVME in an external case is the way to go. They are quite large in comparison to a flash drive, though. But I would try to get one with DRAM, to use in an external enclosure.
