Nice early BF deal. Was just eyeing this model at BestBuy/Costco last week when they were on sale for $1,049. Decided to wait. Now that I know the price will indeed drop, I might see if there will be a deal on the 16GB/512GB version as we get closer to BF. -Edit- I'm a dumb dumb who can't read. This is the Air. I had been eyeing the Pro for the price mentioned above. The wait continues!

A good price for a great computer. I will say I grabbed an 8GB one like this first and while I was happy with it I was soon hitting swap memory fairly regularly.

As far as I could ever tell that didn't really affect my day to day usage at all but I opted to return it for a 16GB version so that it is more capable longer into the future because otherwise I absolutely love this machine and don't see needing to upgrade for a long time.

Nice early BF deal. Was just eyeing this model at BestBuy/Costco last week when they were on sale for $1,049. Decided to wait. Now that I know the price will indeed drop, I might see if there will be a deal on the 16GB/512GB version as we get closer to BF. -Edit- I'm a dumb dumb who can't read. This is the Air. Did you go to Apple Edu to get their deals and easily upgradability on the Air?

My 15 8g lags on excel for some instances, so do the MBP 16 2021 which I already returned.

MacBook isn't a magic and it would lag. The benefit is the battery life and integration with iPhone.

Depends if you want the small improvement. M2 has 0.3" bigger screen, about 20% faster processor, newer form factor, 1080p vs 720p webcam and a bit bigger battery, but 50% slower ssd and runs a bit hotter than M1.

The performance is probably a wash in most use cases. Even though I like the new design, you can't beat the price on M1 air. I bought M1 and will probably upgrade to M4 or M5 later on.
