This is their new flagship and there is no way they would consider these prices until a new product is on horizon.
This ended up being my top 5 slickest deal all times.
Thanks op
Also my QC35 II are 5 years old and just won't die. Gotta resist for now even though I'd like to finally destroy all my MicroUSB cables.

Although, not sure if I'm keeping in general. It was definitely one of those buy now, think later deals since it didn't last long.
My QC 35 II are more comfortable and sound 90% as good. Also the battery is still extremely strong which still surprises me.
Only upgrades I can see on the Ultra are USB-C, better looking, more bass, and the extra features if you value them (I don't care about immersive sound or pause when taking them off).

- XM5: acceptable sound, excellent anc, 30 hour battery life, infamous build quality (as with the 4's, the plastic hinges are known to snap and are not covered by the Sony warranty)
- QC Ultra: acceptable sound, excellent anc, 24 hour battery life, metal hinges so presumably good build quality
If you're not putting them through their paces you might get your money's worth from the 5's, particularly at $160-$185 used. That said, you'd probably be best off going for the Ultra's-if only because they are significantly smaller when stored in the case. Also, the collapsible case of the XM5's provides less protection than the hard-shell case of the Ultra's.I'm doing the same.
