Be real...that was a price mistake that likely no one actually got.

Typically media storage, movies/shows/etc. Though a single external HDD of this size is asking for problems. This is a lot of data to have without redundancy.
Many people who buy these shuck them, taking the drive out to install in a NAS or server.

Regardless, if you do not know what what you would use it for then you do not need it.

It looks like BB is honoring their mistake. I picked up mine in store. The deal only lasted 30 mins or so, in the middle of the night.
You have a chance to confirm what drives are in em yet?

ehhhh, you have to pay $50 for membership... I would wait for thanksgiving. Also, I got 20tb for $280 without membership last week.
FYI,

This deal, even with the additional $50 for the membership, is still a better price per TB than 20 TB for $280.

Decent deal on 20 TB though.

What's a good deal for an external that's 1-2 TB?

Non members can buy it on 10/30? If it's not sold out? I might nab one since I do want a huge drive for my backups that I don't worry too much about losing or will eventually clone on another drive.

It's cooler probably because it's a smaller drive with less platters. Anyways, there was a controversy about it and WD decided not falsely report the SMART data any more https://www.reddit.com/r/DataHoar..._actually/
Thanks for the info. Well my old 8TB drive is larger and likely has more platters than my 5TB 7200rpm drive, but it runs notably cooler. So I am leaning towards believing it is a 5400rpm drive, but at this point it doesn't really matter.

No, because you get more than a $50 benefit with the order.

For the most part $199 has been the BF sales price for the 14 TB version for several years now. Was surprised to see this.

Yeah I'm holding out. I'd rather get 2x smaller drives at $99ea for a nas anyway

This was the going rate for 14tb drives, having an 18 at this price is great!
I'm gonna hold out for the 30th.

See my earlier link then wait to see what they do for BF. They had those new 18TBs for $210 a couple weeks ago, and since they don't charge tax in my state that is cheaper than this $200 deal (that requires membership). And the drives from SPD have a longer warranty and don't require shucking.

Decent deal on 20 TB though.
$250 18tb vs $280 20tb very minimal. Rather get 2tb more.

I got a couple of 20s too, but that deal is not as good by price/vol as this deal.

Those additional 2TB are $40 each...
