yesterday's 16G for $999 is way better deal than this. that really get me interested.
Where? M2 with 16GB? I ended up getting the MacBook Pro with 18 because open box for $1600 at Best Buy. I would jump on an m2 16GB for $999 though

We often see the original m1 MacBook air on here for $750, and it's worth comparing the two.

Magsafe would probably sway me towards the m2, though.

I feel like the older m1 design is not very durable

It's basically the same since the very first version of the air. That's pretty damn durable.

I grabbed an 8gb/256 midnight 15" for 988 on BF. This is obviously a better deal. However, I ended up returning it because as much as I like a sub-$1k apple laptop, 256 is just too limiting. These prices are good, but they could get even better in a few months closer to the M3 MBA release. I wonder if the apple refurb store will also drop their m2 MBA prices. These should drop more -- UNLESS the update is underwhelming and there is a mad dash for the M2 MBAs before they sell out. Try finding a base M2 pro 14 inch right now for $1599.

Personally, I'd rather wait and see. Would like to see if there will be a new color or they will apply that fingerprint-resistant coating on the space black to the midnight color. Doubt it, but one can dream.

EDIT: Whoa, Best Buy has some of these models for $300 off. That's a pretty good deal if willing to take a risk that the M3 airs will just be a chip swap and no other improvements made. By the way, their open box prices are even lower--some 8gb/512 models down to $1060 or $1260 for the 16gb/512. Now we're talking.

it's for my wife. she doesn't use it for much more than browsing and some light productivity stuff.

i did get a chance to experience both and the 15" just felt better. but now I'm wondering if that extra expense makes sense.
Unless you have specific need for bigger screen, I would suggest stick to 13.6. It is light weight and portable. Go for 15 only when you keep the laptop at the desk more than using it on your lap.

And every single one of them has never used one of these laptops. They are absolutely screaming fast, even with the 8gb.
They can't even keep a few Safari tabs open without reloading.
