Question of the year. Can't go wrong with either. I personally prefer the white color of this rig but slim 5 is the shiny new toy in the mkt vs this was released a few years past.

Slim 5 16's screen isn't that great but 14 has Oled 400 nits vs this one is wqxga 500 nits. If you work outside in sunny or bright weather, get this one otherwise people prefer OLEDs for color fidelity. 400 nits is a decent enough brightness although i prefer atleast 500 nits.

This one is a bit more 'gamey' looking than slim 5 if you travel a lot & it matters.
I have a 32gb stick plus the soldered. In this exact laptop.

Very nice screen and processor and GPU and even has a USB4 port... but that LPDDR5 stuck with 16GB. That's unfortunately. I can see it for a budget laptop but not one with a $1600 MSRP.

I'm getting mixed responses about the RAM according to reviews and questions. Some say 16GB soldered. Asus says 16GB soldered in one question but says 32GB RAM max in another. Others say it is one soldered 8GB + 8GB SODIMM slot. A few in the reviews have said they added 16GB sticks.

Got two open box for 900 each, both has strong coil whine when gpu is under load. One has bad paste so temperature and fan noise will be higher. I may consider to buy a new one.

I own one, but it took me several to get a decent one.

- They are notorious for light bleed. All of the units had this to one degree or another but did not bother me too much.
- Speaker vibration on some units. Two units I used had bad speaker vibration when listening to voices in Teams Calls. The music listening was not bad but voices would create horrible buzzing that made it difficult to hear clearly. Apparently this could be fixed with electrical tape.
- One unit had a stuck pixel in the middle of the display. Couldn't ignore it.

Other than that, the units all performed admirably for speed /performance testing. And let's face it, you would be using this type of system for gaming. The main reason I purchased it was because I like to game on the go, but I wanted a system that I could use for work too. When you disable the 4060 and keep it in efficiency mode, I could run the system for hours without needing a charge. My surface pro would only last for a couple of hours.
All in all, it's a great little laptop.

I bought this right before Thanksgiving. Comes with 16gb ddr5 4800mhz soldered. Added another 16gb ram stick and swapped out the 512gb m.2 to 2tb. Like many people, my unit has bad stuttering when playing games, and I only play league of legends which isn't that demanding at all. Stutters in all mode such as ultimate and turbo. Running latest Nvidia drivers. A full restart of the laptop will temporarily fix the issue, but it will come back the next time. Considering returning this and building a 12700kf or 13700k desktop now that prices are dropping.

I was going to buy this laptop after considering the M3 Pro but the screen size, battery life, and white color were my biggest gripes. Other than the 16GB of RAM this is more than capable and the screen and trackpad are acceptable if you were considering a Macbook and it does have passable battery life when compared to other laptops in this space.

I have this laptop. One 16gb stick is soldered. It was easy to upgrade to 32 GB by adding another ddr5 stick.

I grabbed for $560($749 before savings) the Asus A16 advantage edition before Christmas from Best Buy. 1920x1200 screen, and AMDs version of the 4060. I had same issue as everyone else with black screen, but just had to turn off smart gpu switching.

Can't go wrong with either device, this one is brighter/better screen, but I've been happy with the other one if you guys wanna save $250, if it's still on sale. Everything else about them seems the same
