Tip: If you buy from Best Buy- add the plus membership to your order for $50. It'll extend your return period from 15 days to 60 for peace of mind in case the U8K comes back on sale or if you decide you just don't like it. You can cancel the membership within 60 days of purchasing it for a full refund.

They're offering free installation/wall mounting for these. Imagine that is useful w/ a TV this big!

In terms of brand heiarchy U76 is part of the U7 lineup meaning its in a higher product tier than the TCL S5 is, since the U6K is intended to compete w/ the TCL Q6 tier tvs. The TCL S series is the entry level product whereas the Hisense U6 & U7 series is geared toward the midrange product segment. Granted the limited reviews for this TV at this time the Hisense is most likely going to be the better TV of the 2.

The U8 has some bad reviews on best buy. Maybe just a quality control issue I hope this one is better

Anyone know how far from the bottom of the mount screws to the bottom of the Hisense?
About 20.5" inches.

Blurry pic posted looks it shows 14.25" inches from the top of the TV to the center of the top mount hole. Mount pattern is 600 x 400, or 400 mm (15.75") vertical distance between top & bottom mount holes. 14.25" + 15.75" = 30 inches down to bottom mount holes from top of TV. TV is 50.6" tall without stand, so about 20.5" from bottom to center of bottom mount holes.

Damn, having some buyers remorse. Went with the TCL as I have been happy with a number of their other models and have never looked into Hisense. Reading everything now suggests the Hisense is the better TV but now it shows unavailable on BestBuy.com

Will be used for a fairly dim theater room.

Putting a 2,000 TV on a stand seems like you're asking for trouble. Murphy's law will kill that TV. Just a matter of time. Pay the extra 100 bucks and get a wall mount.

Besides, the viewing angle will be much better higher and you're able to aim / tilt the TV perfectly for where you're going to be sitting. All TCS and a sweet spot of viewing angles and you can dial it in with a wall mount. Trust me on this.
This guy's advice clearly needs to be avoided.

Love it! Did some blooming test videos and it's there a little but my eyes aren't really trained to see it well since I'm coming from a fairly lower end 70" Vizio. Definitely performs well for only 256 zones.

Also for the depth of the tv — the 4" measurement definitely seems like it's with the handles. It's about a tishhh under 3.5" from the thicker part at the bottom of the tv.

My Cabinet currently has a 65" tv and could probably fit a 75". Anything more than that is an overkill.

got the hisense! for 4k programming it's awesome! first impressions i will say anything SD or even HD looks eh fairly bad. this is even after tweaking some "expert" settings i found online.

basically don't watch anything released prior to 2010 on this thing but overall for $2k it's a no brainer!

plus's are its size, google OS, inputs, bluetooth remote , brightness, price

minus's are inability to upscale SD/HD programming but truthfully speaking only OLEDs do this well, speakers (pretty bad, like a 1 out of 10).

It doesn't do well with 1080p sources? That would make cable and most streaming sports a no go. Seems odd since the upscaler on the pentatonic chip is supposed to be fairly decent. What sources did you use?

Thats just for the TV upscaling itself, correct? Something like an Apple TV I'd assume would upscale it better perhaps. Maybe I'll test that out later. Exhausted from getting everything ready and set up last couple days.
