I paid $899 last march on sale for this. Awesome receiver, direc is great. I have mine setup as 5.1.4 with RSL speakers, and it sounds great for movies.

Have a old but great tx-nr717. This has less power and I mostly stream from a smart TV so only audio via a 5.1. Any real reason to upgrade?

I just got a pioneer vsx-lx505. I think it may be defective, hdmi loses signal, tried new cables too. I only have 5.1. Adamora seems to be out of stock. Is this a good options, it's also less $. Thoughts, or do I just save the money and get through lx305. I'll never need the 11 channel capability. Thx.

I plan to setup 5.2.4. You get atmos work? Someone mentioned here it doesnt do atmos music?

It plays Atmos content from a connected device, so you can connect a device with Atmos Music support and this receiver will play it. Kind of like how it doesn't natively play Netflix, but you connect a device with Netflix support and it'll play the associated Atmos (or other) audio track.

It's a good point. Most people would be well served by just doing a 3.1 system really well, and maybe plan for 5.2. I think Oppenheimer drove the point home by being a superbly executed 5.1 mix.

My home theater has 9.2 speakers setup. I had Costco Yamaha receiver lying around that could do only 7.2, therefore I wired the front high and side speakers together.
I haven't experienced 9.2 in a home theater, would it be worth spending $600? Thank you!

It's worth $600 alone for DIRAC alone, which is typically a $300 license. So you're getting a 9.2 receiver for $300, and the best auto calibration software in the market. Anyone with an entry level Yamaha or Denon should be jumping on this.
