It's worth $600 alone for DIRAC alone, which is typically a $300 license. So you're getting a 9.2 receiver for $300, and the best auto calibration software in the market. Anyone with an entry level Yamaha or Denon should be jumping on this.

What kind of warranty does it come with? I've heard lots of problems with this brand. Have they gotten any better? Are they factory authorized dealer? Would the normal factory warranty hold up or would you all suggest getting the extended warranty through them?

My home theater has 9.2 speakers setup. I had Costco Yamaha receiver lying around that could do only 7.2, therefore I wired the front high and side speakers together.
I haven't experienced 9.2 in a home theater, would it be worth spending $600? Thank you!
I have the same receiver

I have similar Yamaha (7850) - curious how you'll like the Onkyo and Dirac in comparison

Idk you got thumbs down, this is literally the one thing that prevented me from buying this. I would've been all over it otherwise.

There was a poll on avsforums at some point, you may be able to find it. Even for a site that likely highly over represents those have interested in home audio it was really small. Definelty a high drop of rate after "just a sound bar" and anything more than 5.1 is very niche.

Their '220w per channel' probably comes out to like an actual 23.6 watts per channel when driving all 9. :-)

I don't really need the 9.2 channel but i want something that has 4k/120/hdr/vrr all at the same time for gaming. Would this be one of the better options for that as I see it has 3 HDMI ports at 40gbps? Any recommendations would be most welcome as well. Thanks.

Grabbed one. Reviews are pretty favorable. Just a head scratcher it has no Pre-amp outs would have used one of the monoprice amps with it for the mains and center. But hey @549 for new with DIRAC guess you can't have everything!

be warned does great for home theater. Good steering or affects and plenty of punch. But multiple reviews mention it's not very "musical" unless your doing multi channel audio. cheers! Thanks

At this price with this many channels of amplification and DIRAC, HDMI 2.1and HDCP 2.3. I think this is pretty much your short list. At least best bang for the buck with all the video high bandwidth your looking for.

"GAMING WITH THE ONKYO 7100

Gaming with the Onkyo 7100 and it's video prowess proves there is nothing to complain about. I was able to game at 4K/120 courtesy of our PS5 and Call of Duty, no problem. While I'm not the biggest fan of first person shooters, I can say that I do like driving games and detected zero perceivable lag when playing Gran Turismo. While GT is a 4K/60 game and not 4K/120, even in its highest graphical settings the motion and gameplay was buttery smooth, so to you gamers out there, I have zero hesitation in recommending this AVR if you're wanting to hook up multiple next gen consoles."

hope that helps!

Reviews are putting it around 75 -85 per channel @ 8ohms average. So enough to fill a average to above average room with all channels driven. For the price it's worth it in my opinion.
