Friends don't let friends buy 8K TV. Don't do it friends. Get OLED TV instead. Source materials are rare in 8K.
This is 120hz 8K screen, but hdmi input specs says only 4k120hz. So the 8k is a bit of a gimmick if you ask me. Maybe 8k30hz over hdmi? This really needs the displayport 2.1 support to get 8k120hz

Upscaling without burn in.... I would take this deal over an OLED all day.
I've never had a problem with burn in and you won't if you know what you're doing. And my brightness is always turned up all the way. OLED is still going to look better unless you're sitting 2 feet away from your TV. Anything more than that and your eyes and brain aren't going to be able to tell the difference from 4K to 8K considering there's hardly any content for 8K. It's too ahead of its time. The proof is the main reviewers out there are not telling anyone to get an 8K LED tv over OLED. It's not like it just came out and surprised them and they didn't see it coming. They've known about this for a long time.
Getting closer and closer to a great deal for 8k monitor real estate, non gaming use, just pure production work. Hope this gets down to 1200 and I'll bite.

gotta look for open box at best buy when D models launch

There is a scientific chart for TV sizes and what distance 4k becomes indistinguishable from 1080p to the human eye.
Spoiler alert, it's about 8 feet for 20/20 vision on a 75 inch TV.
That idiot is probably already sitting outside the effective range of 4k already.
Have a last run generation flat panel plasma TV in the loft that's 1080p 55" with a view distance of about 12'. People think it is 4k.....
The only use an 8k TV has, is as a computer monitor, unless we get a significant increase in screen size in the near future.
Why not? Seems like a ridiculous argument. Reviews say it has good upscaling, so even if you don't have 8K content, you can benefit. Plus, you are future-proofing.
The perfect recommended viewing distance for a 4k 75" TV is 6.5'.
Are you sitting farther away from your 75" 4k tv than 6.5 feet? That's for 20/20 vision.
The absolute possible limits of the human eye in an 18 year old is around 9.5 feet before 4k becomes the same as 1080p to the human eye.
That's 100% verified, measurable, and simple optical science.
I'm guessing the optimal view distance for this TV is around 3-5 feet?
That's a bit silly don't you think? Maybe as a monitor if it was curved.

I do have a 4K 55" curved TV on my desk that is about 3 to 5 feet from me. And I can definitely see the pixels. And at 75" it would be worse.
With a 75" display I'm certain I can tell the difference between 4K and 8K when closer than 10 feet.
(of course a 75" TV would need to be curved in order to be used on my desk so that the edges don't get too far away). Too bad nobody makes a 75" curved 8K display yet. So annoying!)

So let's be aware of the raw math here in view distance.
3-5 feet? 5 feet is nearly a 100% increase in distance on 3 feet.
You are not sitting 5 feet away from a 55" 4k and going "Jesus, it's so pixelated, I can't stand this".
The perfect view distance for a 4k 55" is 3.28'.
You are getting less than 3' away and squinting and going like, " Ya, I'm pretty sure I see the pixels.
This stuff isn't quantum mechanics, it's very simple and measurable human optometry. .
That's why you can go to the doctor and read a chart at a certain distance and they tell you exactly what your vision is.
There's no guess work, there's no mystery, there's no maybes....
If you're 5 feet away from a 4k 55" TV and are like "wow, this is so pixelated, I wish it was 8k, it's hard to enjoy this". Well, you are an eagle bird person mutant and you need to be detained and have your eyes removed and donated to scientific study and the advancement of mankind.
Asking a frat boy what their penis size is gets a more factual and reliable answer that asking computer dorks the specifics about their vision and what range they can see pixels at and what Hz refresh rate is high enough that something doesn't look like a slide show to them.....
The answer is 1 million. 1,000,000k resolution at 12 inches away and 1,000,000 fps..... Anything less than that is basically a pixelated comic book slide show to me personally 🙄.
Yes I do wear corrective glasses and I have an asthma attack and fall down if someone yells "think fast and throws a starburst at me" however, that has nothing to do with my gaming monitor requirements.
Don't spend time and money on Samsung's product. I received the emails like this many times. No one helps. Don't buy anything from Samsung.

EPP - Employee Purchase Program --> Does not mean "Samsung Employee". I get my EPP discount through Perks at Work. My previous employer, I believe, went through id.me. You can also get a discount if you have a valid .edu email.
or just get AAA. It's been on several threads, I think.

You can shoot your own 8K content on some cameras now, e.g. Canon EOS R5.
Or you can use it as four, 37.5" 4K monitors.
There are definitely use cases.
You're right, it's an overkill for watching movies. For that 4K is more than good enough.
