I would recommend the G14 since I recently bought one myself, and I managed to upgrade the RAM to 64 GB using a 48 GB stick of "non-binary" RAM (16 GB soldered + 48 GB DDR5) from here [amazon.com]. The laptop also has amazing linux gaming support, and runs pretty quiet. I also liked the fact that the webcam is 1080p and supports Windows Hello through IR. The build is pretty solid, and the speakers are awesome as well. I had a 16 GB lenovo with soldered LPDDR RAM and quickly hit the RAM limits, so regretted buying it in the first place. I would personally recommend this one due to it's expansion possibilities, and especially if you do coding + gaming on a regular basis. The display is also plenty bright at 500 nits, and it looks great in sunlight (it also has a matte finish that is anti reflective, which helps diffuse bright light sources behind me).

In case you do plan to run linux on this laptop, check out the helpful linux gaming community here:
https://asus-linux.org/
The G13 that was $850 has a Ryzen 7 7735HS. The 3 in that 3rd digit means Zen 3. The $999 model has a Ryzen 9 7940HS, which is Zen 4. The Zen 4 CPU and 4060 GPU in this model are significantly better than the Zen 3 and 4050, so well worth the $150 difference.
RAM on G14 is expandable to 48GB where as the Acer is soldered on and not expandable.

Yeah give it a look. You won't ruffle any feathers and/or feel bad if you return an already opened laptop. There's a chance there's 0 wear.

Big mistake. This laptop sucks by comparison to the Slim.
I wanted to like this laptop a lot but the Slim feels like a polished machine that just works properly out of the box. I had a bad experience with the G14 (see below), but I don't think it's a unique one.

Quote from RalphMachio :
It was legit backlight bleed, different corners on both units. My current unit has it too, just not as bad (though getting a bit worse over time). Since I can't return I've decided just to live with it, no reason to turn brightness up to 100 and focus on a black screen defect https://static.slickdealscdn.com/ima...lies/smile.gif
Update: Evidently the machine I got is a lemon. After multiple attempts to fix issues by reinstalling drivers, updates, and even reinstalling windows completely; I'm having performance issues, audio issues (only the bottom speakers working which sound muffled), windows hello via camera stopped working after a day, and lots of heat issues even when trying to use g-helper. Don't think I'm going to roll the dice with another one. I'll stick with my OLED Legion 5 that runs cool and quiet and the fingerprint reader works every time I use it for Windows hello.

The listing mentions 1 SSD slot. I took a look at Asus's website and couldn't find detailed specs. The manual just has generic info about removing an SSD. So, it seems you'd have to replace the SSD with a bigger one rather than adding a second one.

even though the laptop is listed as having 8gb on the website, in the specs it says it has 16.

mine ended up having 16gb (i'm going to upgrade it, someone earlier in the thread said they got theirs up to 40gb but i cant find a spec sheet that says the max memory for the laptop)

also, this laptop is awesome.

I never came across such a terrible wifi card. It disconnects every couple minutes and when it does work it only runs at around 2Mbps. Going to drop in an Intel card and install Linux as this thing is a complete turd trying to come out of sleep mode.

Think I'll wait a year for the new 2024 OLED models coming this year. RAM I think is soldered but has much better speakers. RAM isn't a huge deal to me, but the screen and sound are.

Uninstall myasus and armoury crate and install g helper. This should fix it, it did for me.

The 8gb is talking about the graphics card vram. The specs on the website says the system itself has 16gb.

My other comment should solve the slow sleep performance but as for wifi You may need to manually update to the latest mediatek drivers manually. Look for the link in my previous comments on this thread.

I replaced it with an $18 Intel card, I was already in there replacing the SSD and adding memory. Now I can get up to 2000 Mbps on Wi-Fi.
