It takes over the picture control... brightness is at max and also dims the overall picture !!
Not a fair complaint against any upscaling implementation. It only looks better when we go full retro CRT tv, 37 inch from 15 feet away. Ah, memory lane.
I mean, I've shown it (both shows in fact) to at least a half dozen people on both my 1080p plasma, and my 4k C3- and 100% of em (and myself) agree it looks a ton better on the plasma.
It's why I still have the plasma. (that and it's not like I'd get much for a 64" plasma at this point no matter how good it is).
But this is all getting pretty hilariously off topic- as I say was just addressing the point about if there's still content worth watching at below 1080p source resolution.
Also, you CANNOT add ESPN+ because it isn't supported on webOS so you have to use a different method/device to get to ESPN+.

This always gets blown out of proportion, they are VERY comparable even rtings points this out.

Having compared both calibrated side by side you can't go wrong with either.
At this close price point DV is just a plus.
This whole how HDR is "implemented" is kinda silly, there's a lot of implementation that happens way before we ever view it.
The irony, here, how people believe how technically Samsung technology is better, as is dynamic HDR is to static HDR.
Yet that implementation with these displays gets overlooked.
LG/Sony have the edge on how content is "implemented" imo.
Thanks for clearing that up.
My TV is crooked using it!
It doesn't matter if your hardware is more powerful than a shield. What matters is that your hardware hasn't been processing millions of images for years trying to figure out the best way to upscale images.
When I bought my Samsung tv, I bought the recommended tv mount from their website. When the guy came to install it, he told me that the Samsung mounts weren't very good. I ran out to Best Buy and bought this mount. It's a bit pricey but very very good.
I saw a similar mount at Costco as well for a lower price. I'd recommend that one also.
Just don't get a Samsung mount. Not worth it.
Which mount at Costco is similar?

If you look at that youtube link from your first response about Buffy dvd vs Bluray comparison, that guy's Captured image is rendering a 2.4 pure gamma curve as is typical of modern tvs.
Older dvds/ blurays were color graded on CRTs, they have a gamma behavior more similar to SRGB 2.2 gamma tone curve which is elevated at the bottom which is very different from pure power 2.4.
OLDER tvs, plasma era were tuned for older content may look better for this reason.
You can see this demonstrably by using gamma correction on PC. The details instantly pop out. Whereas 2.4 pure crushes.
