Thinking about how nice it is to not have to worry about that.

How is it HDR400? I thought OLEDs were kind of the top-tier in HDR just by design. But then if it's HDR400, why is max brightness 250 cdm? Isn't cdm also the same as nits?

I wouldnt call this a great deal especially when you can often find the better
Samsung odyssey g9 240hrz monitor [amazon.com]for this or a better price. It is 1099$ right now and samsung offers it cheaper with student discount.

1800R at this size? Eww. Anything at or above 3440x1440 commands 1000R for gaming.

The only exception is if you are using this exclusively for WFH purposes, but even then I still think at least 1500R is mandatory for this size. Too much neck twisting.
1000r is pretty sweet on this size of monitor. My G9 is rocking with it.

Agreed. Far better specs on the G9 IMHO too.

Ironically, the G9 is the one monitor I wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy. Been there, done that, never going back to Samsung.

Why? I've never heard anything bad about it.

Three years going strong on my end. Everyone's mileage will vary I suppose.

G9 has been amazing in my experience.

I'm not saying you're wrong. In fact most people would probably have your same experience. There are numerous reports of G9 screen issues, but like you I didn't have that issue. But my experience was so horrendous I won't give them another dime for any of their products, and that's coming from someone who formerly refused to use anything but flagship Galaxy phones. When I have time later, I'll reply to MB1076's question above in detail explaining exactly why. The short version: Samsung's unimaginably terrible customer service and policies. And before anyone assumes, yes, it is directly correlated to this monitor, not just general customer service complaints.

If I don't play games, just for browsing, working etc, is this an overkill?

If you're not using it for a gaming advantage, then yes I find it's overkill. When you go full window it stretches out the window so far it can be difficult to read certain web pages. Like a menu will have the food on the left of the screen with the price all the way to the right. Of course you can minimize the window, but then it just becomes more of a hassle than just a high quality work production monitor. Additionally when you go to watch a full screen video player, because this is 32:9 aspect ratio, you'll have large empty black spaces on either side of the video and that can be off putting. So if you don't have a particular use for this size of a monitor, it can be more of an annoyance than a benefit.

This monitor is tempting, it would replace my current triple set up of 34" ultra wide in the middle and my 2x 27" all at 1440p and 165hz.

My question is, I'm so use to IPS panels and while I know oled is amazing, is it worth the move and would it be considered an upgrade or downgrade. I use my system for both work productivity and gaming. 70% work and 30% gaming so keep that in mind on the panel requirements.
