This is the lowest price for the direct drive racing wheel from Logitech. However, this is the PC only version.

I don't know why people would buy this when the much better Fanatec DD Pro costs less. And once you are in the Fanatec ecosystem you have a upgrade path to better wheels, bases, and pedals. It's like comparing toys to pro racing sim system.

I would NOT recommend the DD Pro. It has lots of issues, just see r/fanatec on Reddit. The ClubSport DD is a more fair comparison. This Logitech likely falls somewhere in the middle. It's tough to recommend because there are other options similar in price, but this is a decent unit. It's just unfortunate that they haven't released additional wheels for it yet.
I've bought cars for less money lol

Welp, the deal is over. Best Buy had it matched with their $59/year membership (lol) but they ended it as well.

Oh well, will wait another 5-6 months I guess. I want the Logitech since the cockpit setup I have is compatible with it. I'm not buying an entire rig for a DD wheel.

A lot of shipping and supply issues with Fanatec for the last year or so.

Check out the Fanatec Subreddit. A lot of ppl noting their Black Friday orders have yet to ship.

Some say they bought and received it in a week.

But Fanatec only does first party sales. So you're completely at the mercy of their supply and logistics chain.

If Amazon has something in stock you can generally rely on it being shipped and delivered in a reasonable timeframe

This is a mid-high end wheel.

For those saying you can buy this or that for that price.... You can say that about almost any type of gear. There are $2000k 4k 360hz monitors. And there are $250 monitors.

There are $25k sports cars and 1 million dollar sports cars. If that $1M car goes on sale it doesn't mean it's not a deal because you can't afford it, don't understand why it costs so much or aren't interested in it.

Actual high end Sim Gear prices for reference:

Simucube 2 Ultimate (direct drive wheel base only, no rim) - $ 2949.00

PSE GPx (wheel rim only) - £2,599.00

Simucube Active Pedal (just 1 pedal) $2,300

I've never owned a racing wheel before, which is the best thrustmasters one to get? I was close to getting the Logitech G920 but I feel there's a better option for me out there

I actually think the Logitech G920/G29 are excellent entry-level wheels, and I prefer them to Thrustmaster wheels because the Logitech feel more responsive (faster FFB response), don't need a fan for cooling (less noise, one less thing to break), feel nicer to hold due to the leather wrap, seem more durable, and are cheaper (about half the price if you add in a 6 speed shifter).

I would get a Logitech wheel for ~200-250, use that for a year or two, and if you want an upgrade after that skip the belt-drive wheels and go straight for a direct drive wheel.

Don't get that if it's the gear one and not a belt system or direct drive. Gear wheels make clicking noises that are not fun to listen to when playing.
I got the TM Alcantara. I think it was $400 or $450. It's a solid build and it's belt drive. Smooth driving yeah.

Any mid tier Thrustmaster should do it. Direct drives are almost double the money and I heard it can break your fingers/hand if the wheel turns and your hands happen to be inside the wheel circle.

But if you're getting one don't go for Logitech. And don't forget to pick one that is compatible w PC AND the console that you have so you can play on both. Google Thrustmaster vs Logi reddit or something like that there's tons of guys out there discussing pros and cons.

People always say that gear-drive is noisy, but I have one and don't find it to be the case at all.

If you don't have the game running and turn the wheel, yes, it makes a sound. If you completely exceed the FFB it can be noisy, but that usually only happens if you crash, have your FFB settings too high, or are doing something like driving through a field in Forza Horizon.

But in game when I'm actually racing or driving, I don't notice the sound at all over moderate game volume. You're not going to hear it at all of you use headphone or a VR headset.

You know what I do notice, though? The whine of the Thrustmaster cooling fan on their belt-drive wheels. I find that much more noticable, annoying, and distracting than a gear-drive wheel.

Yo my bro, you're a true G for this info as I don't have an insight of experience to these and have never seen one in person to know the quality nor used one to know the response feel. I'm gonna umgo this direction as it seems the more ideal way for an entry starter. Thank you again my friend

New to Sim racing. Any recommendations for a steering wheel, 3-pedals and shifter in the $500 range? It feels the market goes from $300 to $1,500... with very little in between.

The only Wheel, 3 Pedals, Shifter bundle in the $500 price range is Thrustmaster.

Logitech G29 + Shifter is ~$200-320

Fanatec and Moza bundles are $650-750

I personally recommend either saving money with the much cheaper Logitech wheel, or spending more to get a a direct drive wheel.

I went to Microcenter and their SME suggested the Moza R5 bundle. Picked it up for $459. Store price is cheaper than any other online retailer (including camelcamelcamel price history). Now that I'm in it, I feel compelled to buy the rest of the kit... I just ordered a Next Level Racing screen mount, Playseat Evolution Alcantara cockpit and seat.

The Moza R5 bundle is $459, but only includes two pedals and no shifter. A third pedal is $40 (and ~$100 more if you want a load cell pedal, and you really do at this price range) and a shifter is $150, so you're looking at $650-750 after adding the pedal and shifter.

It's a pretty good budget direct drive system, but I wouldn't recommend it to someone who hasn't already caught the sim racing/driving bug. I'd recommend someone new to the hobby pick up a Logitech G Wheel and Shifter for $200-320 (depending on sales). If you then find that you love it and want to upgrade, that's when I'd steer someone to the Moza or Fanatec (or even Logitech) direct drive options.

Anyway, sounds like you've caught the sim bug, so enjoy all the new toys!

The Logitech G wheels are great entry level wheels. I just checked and my G29 is turning 6.5 years old and still going strong. The add on shifter is honestly pretty good - it shifts cleanly and crisply with a nice short throw (the Thrustmaster shifter is all metal but also three times the price and has a long throw - which you can convert to a better feeling short throw, but now it's four times the price of the Logitech). You don't need a shifter - you can use the paddle shifters on the wheel - but I really like the added immersion when driving cars with shifters and/or trucks in ETS.

Start with the solid, reliable, and pretty affordable Logitech, and then if you feel the need to upgrade save up for a direct drive wheel.
