I would be shocked if we don't see a refresh of this handheld within the next 3-6 months.

Even just the SD Card slot furnace issue would be enough to warrant one.

That said - this is easily my #2 pick behind the Steam Deck OLED. Excellent hardware - but highly compromised by the SD card failures and (relatively) small battery.

Steam Deck OLED is certainly the better handheld (in my opinion) - as it does more of the "handheld" things better than the windows devices I own. (Standby/resume - auto-updating games - no drivers/funny business - excellent controls/hardware - great battery life - "verified" games in the store)

How is BB's "fair" condition. They have it local pick up at $455.99
Extremely ymmv, I bought a G14 fair condition which was in PERFECT condition with the box slightly creased. My ROG Ally in good condition was worse condition than the fair G14, with slight scuffing and smashed box.

Be prepared to be shocked.

These manufacturers treat them as gaming consoles instead of gaming PCs, meaning that they want to set a performance target for a generation of devices, which is longer than laptop's one year cycle. Just like Valve debunked the possibility of Steam Deck 2 any time soon, I doubt ASUS or Lenovo will release anything for marginally better performance. They are going to release a next gen device if the device brings something new.

I got the $300 Z1 non-extreme version and it's been great. Plays GamePass games very well. Diablo IV is smooth with just a stutter here and there. I don't think I would get $186 more value out of the Z1 extreme.

Good deal, and of course its available at a local BBY store for me! But I just got the OLED Steam Deck and love it. I think its wiser to put my money towards a gaming laptop at this point.

Silly question...but does "open box" mean used?

I have gotten open box previously for other hardware and they were new.

When I said "refresh" - I was mainly speaking about a small revision to address the issues of the handheld (akin to the Steam Deck OLED) - not necessarily offer more performance.

The SD Card reader issue is a pretty huge flaw that needs addressing - and it would appear that it'd require they do a lot of hardware changes to accommodate moving it.

The ROG Ally was the first of these Z1 devices out of the gate - and I would not be surprised if they'd give it a slight refresh to address the issues they overlooked.

"Previously Purchased" would be the accurate description. Whether it was "used" in any meaningful way won't be known until you unbox it.

Why buy fair condition when the website has excellent for only $30 more?

Gotcha. Thanks for response!

Very very tempting as this has been on the wishlist for a while. My Retroid 4pro isn't even in same league as this and I have a blast with it.

Do you know if the bonus cashback should be showing up on the checkout page? I'm only seeing the standard 5%.

No, you will receive the 10% as a store credit about 2-3 weeks after the purchase.
