This is one of those tools that once you have it, you're so glad you own it. It's been one of my most used and favorite tools.

As always, SD rocks. Thanks, OP.
Missed the last time when it was $99 and SDers wisely advised to just hang in there because it rolls around occasionally. Bought from HD shipped free just in case I want to return it ,(not likely, but things can change).

Need to get tools later this year when I move to a new house.
Need an multi-tool tool and an impact driver.
Are these good prices or does Dewalt have better deals towards the end of the year?

Cut trim when doing flooring.
Cut out drywall
Remove the base of our vanity when it was water damaged
Remove grout from tile to redo it
Trim ceramic tile
Cut PVC drain lines
Cut toilet flange out to replace
Small wood cutouts

The thing is, you end up finding ways to use it too. I like it better than a jab saw for drywall and when you need to trim something out carefully it's great.

I wouldn't say that I use it regularly, but when I got one I discovered all sorts of little tasks it solved that had piled up unsolved. (Those tasks were one-offs so they don't repeat frequently.)
  • I had a rusted out screw in a BBQ that required me to just cut off the head or trim the metal to do a repair. This tool allowed me to do that.
  • I had a small tree that was growing out of a bush. The trunk was intertwined so it was difficult to cut the tree without killing the bush. This tool allowed me to get in there and do that.
  • I wanted to cut drywall for an outlet, and to change the size of an outlet. This tool is essentially made for custom drywall cuts like that. (The technology was originally developed to cut casts.)
  • I needed to do some tile repair, cut out grout or caulk, and replace it. This made it easy.
  • I needed to trim some really small branches one-handed while standing on a ladder. This was handier and safer than a saw or clippers.
  • I needed to sand in a corner of a really tight space. Also let me sand glue off a portion of a chair.
Anything that it can do, there are probably other tools that can also do it. But the advantage is that it is small, battery powered, and can reach in places that the other tools don't even fit. Also it is a single tool that can do all these things, and I don't need to track down those other tools.

I had this tool in combo tools and thought that I would not need much of it unless cutting in tight space of drywall. Well the more I use it the more I realize it very useful. I cut almost anything from a pipe, a wire rack (much better than hacksaw) nail, sheet metal, etc. (with metal blade) , wood trimming, shaving, etc.

Ymmv but the local hd had these for $350, which carries the atomic model of this ocs tool(just doesn't have 3 speed selection, but it does have trigger lock and variable trigger speed just like the dcs356 here.

Hd also just had the m12 fuel drill driver kit sale that was at $125 but it's now gone…I wanted to get it

Oh interesting. It says brushless under specifications.
The M18 Multi Tool (2826) is not brushless. We suggest our M18 FUEL Multi Tool (2836) for a brushless motor. - Milwaukee Tool Social Team

The biggest issues with the MAX line are the plastic parts they use where in the XR line they use metal. Depends on your usage, but i'd get this Dewalt kit over the Ryobi kits that go on sale all the time, though i'd also say just keep your eye out for any of the Atomic or XR kits that go on sale from time to time and get the one that has the tools you need.

This one has an angle grinder that most users won't need (and I wouldn't get that one at all) but some of the kits will be a drill/driver/saw/multi/sander with a couple batteries for $300-400
