I spent some time reading about this saw, and it gets pretty good reviews as a homeowner chainsaw. Reviews say it's a little heavy because it has more metal components than other comparable homeowner saws. No it's not a Swedish made Husqvarna, but it's also not priced like one.
20 inch bar, reputable brand, case included, at this price... this is a great find OP.
What the what??? Let's take a look at each of your points above:
- Battery power chainsaws still need chain tension adjusted
- Battery power chainsaws still need bar oil to be monitored and refilled
- Comes with oil mix for 1 gallon gas = super simple to refuel
- Since when does a new saw's carb need to be adjusted? Mine worked perfectly out of box.
- Battery power chainsaws still need chains to be sharpened after significant use
Agreed with your initial point that "24" is a big tree for a new chainsaw user", but none of your points back this up! Going with a battery-powered chainsaw rather than gas does not make cutting a tree easier or safer than gas for a novice or an expert.

a volunteer group of log splitters i worked for used Husqvarna and very little Stihl. i keep my mind open to what is out there, as the years pass, i get a little wiser.
i don't know if the equipment is getting better and wiser though. lately i have been getting some cheap chain off from amazon, got some yesterday and will see if it matters. my preference now is for smaller equipment, amazon has tons of supplies for that.
Do you watch Steve's small engine saloon, Motor medic, or Donyboy73 on youtube? Many money saving small engine tips under 10 minutes. I never knew you could keep weedeater line young by putting it in water. I have bought cheap saw chain for decades. If you don't mind sharpening more you can save a lot of money. The more expensive saw chain keeps sharpness longer but costs a lot more. You probably knew this anyway.

thanks.
yeah, they have some gooood stuff.
mostly what i learned came from the school of hard knocks. the wet weed eater line was a good one; i have Acres to deal with and we use more than home owner stuff to get the jobs done.

Do you have a speed feed 400 head on your echo weedeater? If so have you bullet proofed the head with a bolt and washers:
i replace my head with a metal blade for cutting down the jungle at our place, Echo makes that for those who do more than lite trimming. it makes lite work of things that used to need loppers to cut with.
i still have a Ryobi string trimmer some place, battery powered, but not used in years. Echo seems to know how to make trimmers. Unfortunately Honda mowers have lost their way and are only making Battery mowers now. better buy the better ones from Depot while they still have them. the lower End hondas are junk now, don't bother.

Unfortunately Honda put a lot of the GC engines instead of installing the Gx iron sleaved versions. I never understood the small amount of money to upgrade those engines. I love starting my Honda engines. I have always wanted to try one of those blades that have chainsaw teeth on it: https://www.amazon.com/Forester-C...8AV02?th=1
What size trimmer line do you use? I use .130 diameter.

the line width advertised is .155 but i may be using heavier as this was a gift. i prefer this over my portable wacker for heavy work, the better ones are self propelled. kinda like one of those.
Honda mowers have taken a huge step backwards, i bought one of the last HRX types available, home depot still sells them till gone. they were on Recall from Honda and repaired, the low priced ones are no longer durable like the original. Honda stopped making gas mowers in the states.
it has come down to joining a tractor forum or whatever to find out what is actually quality anymore. manufacturers have cheapened stuff for inflation purposes because people wont pay the real price.

Those lawnmower trimmers look powerful. My neighbor had a cheap one but it worked well when it ran. Teryl fixes all remarked that champion engines has been fantastic about warranty work and the parts are reasonable. He had a honda inverter from a generator the was something unthinkable like $400-600 for the part alone.

the one shown comes with a cheap Viper engine which is a honda knock off like you might find at harbor freight. generally they work fairly well and you save a few bucks.
they used to sell cheap, but no more. maybe inflation.
if you have a lot of land, a tractor with a Bush Hog is so much better. i used to run a 6 footer for land clearing with a diesel tractor. puts the consumer home owner stuff to shame, but is necessary on the really big jobs.
another thing i like using is the old Troybilt roto tillers with the larger iron engines. mine is decades old and no longer made. if i had to do it over, i would get the Electric start. every year i find them harder to start LOL
Unable to place order via phone or pc. Keeps saying payment decline and call the 800 #, but they are closed on weekends. But getting alerts for charges to the credit cards!

Just wanted to inform everyone. I've been a long time slickdeals member for years and this is the first deal post that I have had issues with. This has been a nightmare! I ordered the saw on 5/8/2024. I got an email from UPS on 5/10/2024 stating "Damage Reported - all merchandise missing - empty carton discarded - will inform shipper. On 5/13/2024 I chatted with a rep (after waiting 30 minutes) who informed me that I would have to place a new order as they would not automatically ship a replacement. When I inquired about my credit card that was already charged, she informed me that chat reps could not issue refunds and I would have to speak to customer service at their 1-877 number. I tried that multiple times and after waiting on hold from 30 minutes to 1 hour MULTIPLE times, I gave up. I finally had to dispute the charge with my credit card company to get my refund. Please BEWARE - I would recommend staying FAR FAR away from "MTD Parts" or whatever they are calling themselves today!!!
