Major fail with new iPads after 9th Gen is that they forgot to include the 3.5mm audio jack!
Best excuse is well "all tech is going to Bluetooth audio". But it doesn't have to, there's no technical reason that we legally have to get rid of 3.5mm jacks. In fact most customers hate Bluetooth audio.

i wouldn't mind it if Apple included multiple usb-c ports, but when they only include one and then don't make their own (i,e supoorted, compatibility ensured) usb-c dongle to support simultaneous charging + headphones.... But they don't, so if you want to use wired headphones and charge at the same time you're looking at flakey 3rd party options to make it happen.
Like it would kill them to add the 2nd port - but they won't because they'd rather have you paying the premium for their wireless buds and headphones that eventually die and, lacking user replaceable batteries, will mostly be tossed and replaced. All while they virtue signal their wafer thin values about sustainability. Color me unsurprised because at Apple, "This is the way"

Psst..hey guys, should I tell him about the crap load of AirPods, wireless headsets, portable speakers, and CarPlay/Android Auto enabled cars that Bluetooth-hating customers are buying up?

Perhaps you haven't kept up with the trends on the new phones either for a few years.
It's off by $100 already since Tuesday. A14 Bionic chip. Certainly better than my A9 chip old ass iPad Pro. May trade it in just to get faster cpu.
My A9 ipad Pro still works fine for watching youtube and netflix but battery sucks ass.
Maybe I will go iPad Pro for the amazing display and the new pen gestures that I can't use.
I just bought an iPad Pro 11 M2 a couple weeks ago (Price-matched a Costco sale price at BestBuy so I could trade in my Air and use some reward certificated). In any case, I'm starting to rethink if I should return it and order the M4 OLED version? The $200 increase isn't bad considering you get 256GB storage now, plus M4, plus OLED. Usually just upgrading from 128 to 256 is $200!
I don't need OLED (I also just upgraded my Samsung Tab S8 to an AMOLED Tab S9 for $199) and compared the Tab S9 and my iPad Pro M2 side-by-side watching a movie (Mad Max Fury Road) and I gotta say...hard to tell the difference. The bomb explosions looked better on the S9 but otherwise, I'd be happy with either.
BB also has $50 off the new M4 iPad Pro right now (or at least they did yesterday)

I'm with you. It's one of those.. if I just spend a little more.
$900 is the EDU price for 11" M4 Pro ($100 off from EDU store)
$550 for M2 Air 11"
$900 - $550 = $350 difference from M2 Air to M4 Pro. I am rationalizing myself into a new purchase that I don't need.
I have a $250 trade in for iPad Mini 6 (or $115 for my crappy first gen iPad 12.9").
So now it's just $100 extra between new Air or new Pro.
++ extra 128GB which is $100
This makes the price difference just $0 out of pocket for and 11" Pro M4 over 11" Air M2. (lol it's still $650 I have to spend but I am making myself believe the deal is so good that I should just buy it). I DO WISH Apple allow multiple devices to be traded in at once!!!!)
++ OLED with 1000 nits. I can probably use this while at the pool all summer under the sun.
++ much M4 faster processor (maybe I will finally do more on the iPad. I did start to play with Divici Resolve on my Mac, perhaps I will do it on the iPad for my basic edits.
++ possibility of the heavy AI use (I think this is 2x Neuro Engine at 38 TOPS over the M2 chip.
Seems like a no brainer!
The upgrade from 11" to 13" Pro is crazy at $300, it's the same display this time between the 2 so the extra 2 inches is really expensive.
I forgot I do need to get new Pen and new Keyboard... that's gonna hurt for sure.

You can trade stuff in at BestBuy without buying something and get a Gift Card to be used for a future purchase. I have a 2017 13" MBP base model that I can trade in to get more credit towards an M4 iPad Pro. That makes my out-of-pocket for an M4 iPad Pro more like $230 + tax. Decisions, decisions...

Oh I did not know this!
I found 3 iPads I can trade in at apple. I know BBY is a little bit less but nice if I can trade all of them in.
$105
$115
$250 (damn $140 at BBY)
$285 - but this is a 11" Old Pro that still works well and I already have Apple Pen 1 and Pen 2.
not sure what the old Macs I have will do... will look!
$225 for the 64 on Feb 04 2023. Not worth more than that to me.
