Got this last year for the same price with 10% cashback as well. Great soundbar, compared to the Q990D this does not have hdmi 2.1 support, dual rear stereo mode (if you have vizio soundbars you should know how this works) and another make to make voices louder in media. Besides that the specifications and dimensions of the soundbar, subwoofer are exactly the same.

If you have a Samsung TV from the past 2-3 years the soundbar will work along with the TV speakers to give you even more immersion.

Cons would be the inability to get full control over each channel, you cannot fully mute the center channel for example, atmos effects are quite weak even if you the largest satellite speaker stand, putting your streaming stick straight into the soundbar for direct audio pass through will give you a black screen for a second or two before playing.

I can post my equalizer settings in case anyone wants it but it's best to try out the soundbar for yourself first.

If you already have Q700B paired with rear speakers (swa-9500s), don't bother upgrading. I returned mine and kept q700b. Almost no difference. I got swa-9500s from BB for $100 local pickup deal a while back.

I'm not a big fan of sound bars, but looking at the specs and size of this system is eye opening. 4 foot wide sound bar, 16" x 16" sub. 10" rear bookshelf. And having amplifiers in each device with enough heat sink area is impressive. I would opt for an extended warranty, as if one part of this system fails out of warranty, it won't be easy finding a replacement. At over $1500 I think it's a stretch. At $700, in a room where running wires is near impossible, I think this checks a lot of boxes. I have a 85" QN90A flat screen, and have little negative to say even compared to the best OLED. If Samsung does audio as well as they do video on their flagship devices, buy now and think later.

Usually it's only audiophiles or home theater snobs who turn their nose up at this system, but even then, a lot of them say it's a great option if space, aesthetic options (ie wife constraints), or budget are limited.

I think this is solid advice for the Q700 versus the Q800 but I do not agree against the Q990. I have all three and get to listen to all three of them regularly in three different places. 990 is louder, more speakers, features, It really makes a difference in the atmos.

The 990 satellites have an extra up firing speaker and I can hear the difference. But I would not upgrade for it.

You're right that q990c is louder and better suited for larger rooms. But in terms of sound clarity, dolby atmos or dts:x, I compared both, didn't see much difference. If you crank up both woofer and built-in soundbar bass and rear speakers all they way up (I recommend 5) from the SmarThings app (samsung app to control and configure audio settings), you can achieve almost the same results.

this soundbar is good for movie, but the bass is very weak if listening to music. So depends on how you are going to use it.
