Constant modem issues, thermal issues, and overall bad performance for a 500$ phone, even worse for the 900$ it launched for. I have not encountered this issues firsthand(as I dont own a pixel) but online, in forums and in tech news there is a strong opinion that the tensor chip is terrible
I have a Pixel 7 Pro 512GB. I paid above $700 in the summer of 2023. The phone has not a single issue from my first hand experience. I hate to pay that much but at the time it was the best deal I could find. I have no regrets. Very happy. Looking to buy the 10th generation of the Pixel phone.

As a long time Pixel boi, don't do the 7 Pro. The curved glass is the dumbest idea since dropping consumer removable batteries. There's a reason Samsung did away with it 5 years ago. I have a 7 Pro that got wrecked on the unprotected side the case doesn't cover.

The 8 Pro is the last Pixel I'm buying. Too buggy to continue this headache.

I'm with you. Paid $115 for my Pixel 2XL in 2021. It's been a sold phone.
I recently picked up original Pixel XL (128GB) for $45 (used). I use it along with my Pixel 6 Pro primary for free unlimited original quality photo backup to Google Photos. I don't see how someone can still live with Pixel 2XL these days (including security risks, etc). If you are on the budget, just get Pixel 7a which should be heavily discounted soon ($200 would be jump price) since Pixel 8a was just announced. Best value mid ranger with best photo capturing due to proven sensor/software.

Yup. Pixel 8 really crashed prices of prior gen even more than usual. Due to 7 years updates, AI stuff (circle to search, etc which won't ever be dropped to p7), DP USBC, much brighter screen. All this in one generation, plus aggressive pricing on P8, relegates p7 to plummet.

This is the truth. My wife had a pixel 7 pro and I had a pixel 7. Never had a phone that had so many issues with the modem. Would be left with no connection on my phone constantly and only wifi was reliable. I had been with Google since the Nexus days and had pixel 2, 3, 5 but transitioned to Samsung after our experiences with the 7. Read that the 6 had the same issues which was why I waited for 7 to upgrade but unfortunately, they didn't sort it out.
Every, I do mean EVERY Google Pixel phone had been heavily criticized, regardless which SoC or who-made-that-SoC. I have Pixel XL 128GB, Pixel 4 XL 128GB, and Pixel 7 Pro 512GB. I have had not a single problem with them. I really like the Pixel 4 XL for its secure face unlock. The Pixel 7 Pro fingerprint unlock is bad enough, but I use the pattern unlock method on that phone. I still use my Pixel XL from 2016 to download files. Its battery is still excellent at 92% according to AccuBatt app. Now I'm looking forward to buying a 10th or 11th generation Pixel phone.

Same here! I have had three different Pixel models and never had any problems. No fingerprint unlock problems either. Currently I have a Pixel 7 pro and it takes amazing pictures, so no need to upgrade it for me yet, but I might do it when they announce 9 or 10 Pro depending on the features.

Yeah, I was wary of people just complaining for no reason on forums, but the criticism was a lot. But at the same time it was 50/50, some people had no issues and then another majority had HUGE issues. I really didn't know who to believe
It has a lot to do with how a person use his/her phone. I'm in the not-a-single-issue camp. All of them have a case and a screen protector from the day one. Update my phones as soon as available. Charge my phones between 20% to 80%. Never go above 80%. Once or twice I missed the mark, but that's OK. Use Wi-Fi instead of Data as much as I can. I restart my phones every day or two. I don't abuse my phones. Treat them like a precision electronic device built with fragile glass. That's my first hand experience.

Not sure what you mean by "secure". Does that mean Google, FBI, NSA, et. al. all have direct access to your location and everything you do or say while on the phone, but china has to find another way to steal your data such as Tik Tok? If so, then yes, it's secure.... Wink

Secure in the sense that applications need user input to change system settings.

Thanks for your help. As far as the phone bugs, it does concern me that this phone made it into the Woot selling platform for some reason.

Woot is Amazon and anything that needs to move without devaluation the brand ends up here, including Mac books etc.

Good points . Can anyone recommend a good screen protector for this 7 Pro? There are many on Amazon that are cheap with fake reviews. Also, I've never had a curved glass phone before so I'm looking for recommendations. Thanks for any help.

I'm using a film type screen protector, because the glass type doesn't fit well on curved sides. The one I bought is decent, but is just that. $14 for two pieces. I'm not going to recommend it to other people.

I really like the case. It's Ringke [Fusion] Clear case. I bought one initially. When it was on sale, I bought twofer for $12 or so.

I think the QC is bad on Pixels though. I was a 6a user for a short bit and had all kinds of issues with the GPS, wifi, and call connectivity. Others around that time reported no issues. Before that, I had a 3XL and that was one of the best phones I ever owned. I have a pixel 8 now and whole I have run into some glitches here and there, it's nowhere near as bad as the 6a was.

The issues only started after the pixel 6

It's no where near the amount of critisism the pixel 6,7,8 have received
