The Alienware deal (AW3225QF) has the superior panel, it's the newer generation of QD Oled panels which are much better then the original iterations in the G8 and AW3423DW(F).
Wish I was blown always. Might have to get this.

Easy to just buy an adapter in amazon it works fine
I know I could always do that but considering we're spending so much for this monitor yet it doesn't include the basic kind of baffled me. Simply asking if this is the trend.

Dont think it is a trend, they only did it for the G8 then switch back to normal on the G9.
If you do get go HDMI over DP.
Also if you dont mind open box Best Buy has these for $514 excellent condition and they still carry a normal warranty.

Thanks for the info. I'm glad they switched back. It'll be awhile before I can justify to my wife in spending close to 600 bucks for a monitor when I still have a working one..
Really just concerned about Samsung's customer service, warranty, RMA, etc. at least as far as monitors go
I just got the LG a week ago and it's pretty great. I'm upgrading from a Dell 1440p TN panel though so everything is going to look great. I'll be checking out the AW32 inch 4k QD-OLED this weekend and then decide if I'm returning the LG or keeping it.

Thanks for the heads saved over 200 bucks. It is Open Box (excellent) but I've had decent luck with them before so worth the risk.

I'm thinking about the $514 BB openbox too, and add 4-yr geek squad for $89.99. Still cheaper than new one and no need to worry about samsung service, rma, etc

Yeah, I'll be upgrading from a Dell as well. It's a bit "nicer" one, the 2719DM.
Just making sure I don't end up doing a "sidegrade" by going 1440p and 27" but this time with OLED.
And then I go back to looking at the 4K OLEDs from AW and MSI and think that might be a better option...
Seems like an amazing monitor! Can someone please educate me a bit on a few questions? I have a Mac Mini M1 and is it true the USB C ports on this monitor are not for display purposes, but more of a hub? I would want to hook the monitor up via USB C. Last question, if I use this monitor for casual browsing, watching YouTube, and spreadsheets there'll like be black bars on the side and could result in possible burn-in over time? Thank you!

I had the 4k 32" MSI QD-OLED (the MPG model) and I now have the LG 27GR (older model of the GS) and I have no regrets.
The MSI is by far the better monitor. But the room I have my setup in gets pretty bright, and the QD-OLED's hate that. And I only have a lowly 4070. So while the MSI was amazing, it just made more sense to go with a 1440p monitor with a matte screen. Also, the LG was an open box from Best Buy that I got a good a pretty good deal on, so like I said, I have no regrets.
If you've got the GPU for it, or plan to upgrade when the 50 Series drops, then definitely go for one of the 4k OLED's!

* 34" doesn't have a 2nd gen ("2.5 gen") yet.
