I have this monitor and one of the very few, minor complaints I have about it is the lack of brightness.

It does seem to be somewhat content dependent. But there have been quite a few occasions where even in my dark basement setup, I go to turn up the brightness due to not being able to see much detail in a dark scene or game, only to find that it's all the way up already.

It's not a deal breaker for me, but if it was in a well lit room I could see becoming frustrated with it. That said, it does have a subtle matte finish (a deal breaker for others) and is very glare resistant. So, yaknow, pros and cons.

I guess I'll go ahead and add the other commentary here instead of making a new comment:

It's way heavier than the c3 for some reason. kind of annoying for mounting purposes.

The back bias lighting might be annoying for some (but you can turn it off.)

The remote it comes with is comically large and unintuitive for only having a couple of buttons.

LG's monitor software is convoluted and confusing (combination of downloaded programs and built-in ui.) It took some time, frustration and research to figure out how to unlock picture setting adjustments and half of the modes. (Displaying an HDR enabled source locks out built-in picture adjustments in various levels depending on the source.)

The picture is amazing, and it looks very sleek when off, screen uniformity is perfect, the packaging is nicely protective and sturdy, and the stand is very robust, and has a moderately usable cable management system with front audio io.

the built-in speakers are shockingly good (maybe some of the weight) with even more surprising bass.

all-in-all I think this is a very reasonable price for a pretty awesome monitor, if you have a practical use for something this size.
This monitor is more in line with a C2 but for being a monitor with displayport inputs
FYI, this uses the C1 panel which is less bright and significantly heavier than the C2/C3/C4. The Asus and KTC versions of this use the C2 panel. There are also Phillips and BenQ ones.

This one also has a lot of bad reviews on Amazon, people saying they got lemons. Also there are no physical buttons only a non-standard remote. So if the remote is lost or broken you are in trouble.

Can this double as both a gaming AND work monitor? Ie. is text sharp?

I currently have two desks. Gaming desk has a 34" curved and work desk has 2 24"s. Would this monitor be suitable to replace all my monitors? Would be nice to consolidate desks.

I got one of these last fall for $599 or so after $100 digital promotion from Costco. I used it for 6 months and sent it back. I thought it was a really nice monitor but it was definitely not for mixed use between gaming and productivity work. The dimming feature absolutely drove me nuts and even worse the dimming would continue even with mouse/keyboard input sometimes. When it goes to sleep after a few minutes it takes a full 30 seconds to wake up and none of the mouse/keyboard inputs will work while it struggles to display the mode and input that the monitor is using. I even tried uninstalling the really terrible screen control software and no help. My last straw was the built-in USB hub in the back of the monitor. I would sometimes get flickering input from my camera for video conferences and laggy input on keyboard/mouse. It was not often but enough to be annoying.

If you max out the resolution and bump up the display icons it works ok. My issue was that the flat panel made it difficult to see the upper left and upper right corners and it resulted in neck strain for productivity applications like Outlook. I finally started using those applications and even Internet browser in a smaller window directly in front of me in the middle. Essentially I think I ended up replicating a smaller monitor for productivity and using the full size for gaming. As you can see in my other post I returned it after 6 months for just having too many issues that I could not live with.

$20 says this one needed a firmware update. It's not cool that LG shipped a product this buggy... but these issues WERE fixed.

I got it for $400 at Costco a week ago as someone returned an online order. I am not loving it. The text is not very clear. I don't have that issue with my 43" LG monitor which I have from the past 6-7 years. Probably I will return it.

Does this have 120hz BFI like the C1 and earlier? That's a huge miss for motion clarity in high frame rate games compared to my C2 and later.

Would be great for a virtual pinball setup, unless you wanted something brighter.

Thanks for both replies! It sounds like apart from the issues you mention, 48" is too large for productivity.

What did you end up getting as a replacement?

Got it $628.98 shipped after tax from LG Partner Store - don't forget to use the 10% discount code: MEMORIALDAY

Buying it to replace LG C1 i got back in June 2022 - not much of an upgrade - but i have a nagging blue color burn on the c1 screen.

I was able to get it for $600 shipped. This is my first oled monitor/tv so I'm excited to use it in my game room.
