I wouldn't pay full price for one of these, but honestly, it's one of those things that until you get one seems ridiculous. I use mine every single day and love it.
But then it's too hot to drink for hours. The embers will allow cooling to your preferred temperature then keep it there.
What we need is a solar powered cooling beer mug.

Hi, I'm dumb and this would be for my wife. Can you describe how well it keeps the drink warm in a uniform way? Or is there a big temperature gradient from the top to the bottom?

I can say I don't actually use mine because I drink coffee with cream and the ember creates a film from heating the cream that clings to everything. But my wife who drinks tea straight loves hers and says it keeps it perfect.

Did they ever fix the app? I remember for the longest time, the app won't even load. And when it does work, it never recognizes my Bluetooth so I'm constantly resetting it. A useless app made this ember mug useless for me.

I have had two of these now and wouldn't get another. The main issue is once the battery is done (end of life, doesn't hold charge, less than 8 months in) you can't simply replace it. Until they fix that, and their app, I would stay away.

Would definitely not want China to know the temperature I keep my coffee at!

Originally, I had huge issues with the app (Android). Within the last 4 months, it's been great. Most recently, I switched to an iPhone and the app seems to work just like it should.

Almost pulled the trigger on one of these, but then went with a plug in coffee warmer to not have to worry about battery issues down the road. There's no app (a plus!), I get to use whatever coffee cup I want, and I've been happy with it:

I have 2 of these for about a year. I like the concept and I'm a heavy coffee drinker. But I would not recommend them at this price. The cup is not very ergonomic. It's bottom heavy and the handle is somewhat uncomfortable. The battery life is not good. You basically get 1 or maybe 2 cups before you will have to charge it. Charging is slow. The biggest downside is cleaning. Unless you only drink black coffee, these are frustrating to clean and you can't put it in the dishwasher.

I would recommend a Zojirushi mug instead, preheat and put your coffee in at the ideal temp. Way more functional and efficient.

The volume on my tv, fine, but I'll be damned if I share the temperature of my hot drinks. I mean lukewarm drinks. Crap, I said too much.

I have a Nextmug that is similar. I use it daily at work to keep coffee hot. It works really well and I am quite surprised at how much I like having a heated mug. I don't know if I want an app to control the mug. If I'm holding it, I would prefer to adjust settings on the mug itself.

I have been using it for a while regularly though I can't say it works every time. First, it is not efficient due to open design, heat escapes from the top and it consumes energy until battery dies in about an hour. Go pour another cup, then you have no battery . You can keep charging it but you have to keep it charging. There is also no way to know battery percentage without opening the app. This needs nothing but a simple lcd for battery instead of the entire app features. The cradle has a design flaw which breaks the charging pins almost always which then makes it useless. You will either need to buy another cradle or get the pin fixed . Easy fix but you will need soldering. I stopped using it in favor of my yeti cup which has damn good isolation. I wanted to love it but it is a poor execution of a good idea.

I have the travel mug. Expensive. Yes. But once you start using one, you can never go back. Every sip from start to finish is the perfect temperature. And especially for someone who takes 1-2 hours to drink my coffee, it's invaluable.

Second the Nextmug. Especially as an Android user, I got tired of fighting with the Ember app. At least Nextmug has buttons on the mug itself to control the temp. No app needed.
