I recently saw this game on sale and told myself "well, why don't I give this franchise another shot."
I was surprised. Yes, it is linear but the storytelling, graphics and gameplay... has been very good so far. It has kept me interested. Furthermore, I feel like the story has gone back to its roots with Aeons, Summoners (Dominants) and Crystals being the main focus of the story. And the story's world, although its not Ivalice its still an interesting setting.
I'd say those who are hesitant, give it a shot. Its only $35. It is linear and there's a whole bunch of non-stop combat. But that doesn't make it a bad game. Tbh, I'm tired of games that are "open world" and having millions of sub-quests and other distractions.
To summarize, this felt like FF16 God of War. And that's not a bad thing. Some of the boss battles are pretty sick. Also the music has been great.
