These have so many issues, drops connection about once a week. Very unstable. Amazing when it works, but only when it works.

Mines be solid for 3 years.

Might want to power cycle the pucks if you are having issues.

I have two of these routers set up as a wireless mesh in a single network for the past year or so. Recently (the past two week-ish) it has been exhibiting some odd wifi behavior.

Devices that are connected to the satellite node via WiFi work perfectly with full wan speed. Devices that connect directly to the main router via WiFi have unstable and unusable speed. According to the app and the device's status, the connection is solid and great, however simple web pages barely load and internet speed tests are erratic and slow. This occurs pc laptops and android\ios devices.

A simple restart or power cycle of the main node fixes the problem until it becomes a problem again. I'm not sure if it's a specific node hardware issue. It's just very odd the wifi connection to the main node becomes useless while the satellite node continues to work flawlessly. Besides that the network had been great. I'm going to keep an eye on it and may start to use a smart plug to do a daily power cycle or replace the entire system completely.

I have 2 of the Nest WiFi devices (1 Router, 1AP). PSA, you can also add a Google WiFi node to the mesh for additional coverage (and an extra Ethernet port for devices like a PS5, smart TV, etc).

My only issue with the system is that I have to restart the network at least once a week as speeds slow down. Check Reddit if you don't believe me. Maybe the Nest WiFi system has a hard time dealing with congestion. I have 20+ devices on Ethernet and WiFi. It's almost as if the system slows down as the network gets more saturated throughout the week. Tbh, there are better systems out there but nest offers a lot of convenience with their app support.

No need for mesh. I want to hardwire this to a managed switch as the AP for my IOT VLAN. I would prefer this be able to handle at least two SSID's, one for each frequency and on their own separate VLANs though.
get a Unifi if you want to have control of the devices to do this things

I have had this set up for a few years and never needed to reset the system. I have less than 2 dozen devices. I have 1GB internet connection via NIC to the Google wifi router. The 2nd one (also a router) is connected via wifi.

I had the same experience. I'm glad this works for some people but my experience was pretty bad. I was disappointed since I was a huge Google fan: my family had pixel phones, pixel earbuds, watches and a Nest system throughout the house.
I switched to the Eero pro system and have been very happy with it.

Anyone use this as a straight up wired AP ?
I have mine as a wired backbone, though one is acting as the router. In that configuration, it's smooth as butter. (Wireless mesh was problematic)

Thank you! We checked our local one and they were out. Asked to check a city about 25 miles away and boom, 7 in stock at $199.99. Worth a little drive!

I can assure you the issues are real. The pucks may slowly die... but not provide diagnostics or information on which is.

This causes mesh-wide problems with the only way to properly debug is to undo your entire mesh, slowly adding one more puck each week until you find the problematic ones. I had two such ones. My parents had one.

Funny enough, using these dying ones in wired mode has no issues Smilie
