It's an extremely good value for a gaming computer.

I used to think the same, but nowadays, the integrated graphics have multiple use cases even if you're speccing a high end gaming system.
1) You can use the integrated graphics to stream on multiple platforms with OBS without a 3%-5% GPU performance hit.
2) Also, the IG can drive scrubbing on editing much smoother since there's less latency than using the discrete gpu. I can especially attest this since editing on a laptop with 4 core 6700HQ w/ IGPU and 960m DGPU was smoother than a 6-core 5820k w/ GTX 1080. Even 14700k with IGPU is also smooth since the IGPU handles encoding while scrubbing on the timeline.
3) You can drive secondary or tertiary monitors with no impact at all from GPU. I tested it on my RTX 4070S and I lose about 1-2% performance with a static secondary screen. A little more if there are things moving on the screen.
4) You can set your browser like chrome to power saving mode and it will offload all hardware acceleration to IGPU instead of DGPU. And as an addendum to that, less DGPU memory will be loaded if you like leaving browsers in the background.

No, you are very wrong and poorly informed. It is more than capable of running current triple A titles at high settings with a powerful graphics card. It's hard to beat the value.

Price research please ?

Because Amazon has it by 1c cheaper and so is B&H or newegg itself

Intel has very strict pricing and sales are across all official vendors

A bit better from what I understand. But also uses more power.

At least for gaming, even the last-gen 11400 was better than the 5600x when benchmarked four years ago. Buying the 12400 also gives an uprgradable socket that can support up to an I9-13900.:

"Users that do not wish to pay a marketing premium should investigate Intel's 11400F, which, when paired with a 2060 Super, delivers higher EFps in four out of five of today's most popular games, at half the MSRP. Allocating the savings to a higher tier GPU will result in a far superior gaming PC. [Nov '20 CPUPro]"

Decent price for CPU alone!

If you have a MicroCenter nearby (and many of us don't, I know! We just got one here), they were running a bundle with an i5 12600KF, motherboard and RAM for $250 (for DDR4). Individually priced, that made the processor $75 on the receipt…

That said, $100 for a solid CPU that should perform perfectly well for a few more years is worth a look though!

Not a fan of F cpus. The integrated gpu is worth more than the price difference in any use case that's not pure gaming

Most people buying the F-series CPUs are making purpose-built rigs around a specific GPU for high-end gaming or engineering/design, so why waste any money on integrated graphics? First time builders on a tight budget (think middle schoolers) have to save where they can, so they don't have the extra $50 to throw away on integrated either. And the average person who just wants to surf the web isn't building their own PC…

So although the cost difference isn't huge, there are valid reasons to forego the integrated graphics… $50 is 3-5% of your cost on a build between $1000 and $1500 that you're just burning if you plan to use a dedicated GPU in it anyway.

No, every reputable gaming benchmark showed that the 11400f was slower on average than the 5600x. The 12400f and 5600x are fairly close though. You're quoting a source that is widely known to be heavily biased in favor of Intel and has been called out as a joke by the hardware community and legit hardware benchmarkers.

Ryzen 5600 (cheaper 5600x) vs 12400f: https://www.techspot.com/review/2...i5-12400f/
https://www.techpowerup.com/revie...0f/16.html

Techspot (Hardware Unboxed on Youtube), Techpowerup, and few others provide excellent, detailed benchmarks. Userbenchmark on the other hand, should be used for nothing unless you need a laugh.

Btw, my two latest builds are on an 11400f and 12400f. These sale prices are great if you also find a reasonably priced motherboard. Just be realistic about gaming performance and pair it with an entry-level or mid-range GPU. Anything higher would be a waste and be bottlenecked.

Even intel fan communities hate userbenchmark and r/intel subreddit banned any mention of their benchmarks or opinions. This is due to userbenchmark's illogical intel fanboyism that even intel fans irk at reading.

Also, the socket LGA1700 for 12400 could go up to 14th gen 14900k. Although both 13900k and 14900k still have instability issues not completely fixed by intel. Better settling with i7-14700k or lower.

Personally, I'm trying to find a lowish-power 12/13/14gen Intel CPU for a CWWK NAS motherboard [cwwk.net] build, so iGPU is a necessity.

Except those processors double as space heaters.

Damn, this is so hard to pass up on. I need a higher turbo though. Want to make a Modded Minecraft server with one of these 12th gen Intels. Wanting to get a 12600.
