All colors available now.

Tempted but really don't want to go back to having to use lightning cables again. USB-C version should be coming later this year (though rumored not to have any significant upgrades over this version)

Aren't these over 3 and a half years old at this point? Apple should have released an updated model by now.

Nice. You still get 10% back in total with any Amazon credit card. That takes care of tax and gets you an extra few percent off. Decided to add AppleCare Plus since I read they basically give you a new pair if anything goes wrong in the 2 year period.

Edit: 10% off looks like it's gone it was a limited time offer

Does AppleCare cover wear? One of the bigger complaints I see with these is the finish peeling off.
Accidental damage is covered for these. I think you could get it taken care of. I also don't consider that to be normal wear and tear.

I don't either but I just had a really bad experience with Focal Bathys. The leather on my earpads is peeling at the 1 year mark and they said it's not covered under their 2 year warranty. This is on a $800 (at the time) pair of headphones Frown. That's why I'm a little gunshy about spending big money on some cans.

It doesn't look like AppleCare in general covers cosmetic damage. I thought it was covered with my AirPod Pros. I guess it depends on if you can convince them it's a defect.

Yeah. This price feels appropriate for the age. Sonos Ace is coming out ahead on the AppleInsider side by side. If I was gonna spend $400 on headphones I'd probably pick the Sonos (better sound, noise cancelling, mics, comfort)
Have you used the Sonos app lately or heard about the shenanigans?

I have the full Sonos arc/bass/surround setup and its been amazing the past few years. But hard to recommend at the moment, not everyone can handle the issues and willing to put as much time troubleshooting just to work

I am sure BBY will PM it, but it's 3-4 years old, so gen 2 is to be released soon (late 2024 or early 2025)..
True and I was surprised when the new iPads were released there were sales on them instantly. That said, there don't seem to be changes in the works other than USB C. I doubt the new ones will cost $400. After charging is great, but USB C don't worth that much to me.

Thanks for posting this. I purchased a set from Target yesterday at the $450 price. They just price matched me the difference and gave me a refund.

I was on the fence like others due to the lightning connector vs usb-c. But once I got past that I realize I've been very pleased with the quality and sound from the headset. It's heavy, but somehow on my head feels very balanced and never fatiguing. The noise cancelling is very very good, and honestly until I get in a plane I'm not sure my Bose over hear and in ear noise cancelling headphones are any better.

Lastly, I enjoy that every thing from an input point of view is simple buttons/dials. No touch nonsense.

With my MacBook Pro and iPhone 15 pro, it's a solid companion. I also have a Galaxy Fold 5 as my personal phone and had no problems connecting this to it as well.

Just buy a USB-C to lightning adapter that tethers to your USB-C charging cable(s)...it's not worth $150 to avoid charging with lightning lol. Especially with how infrequently you need to charge these...$5

I was able to do price match at Best Buy. Their system couldn't match the $399 price because it was below their $449 limit, and even the manager couldn't override it. But he added a $50 store credit, so I ended up getting the full price match.

I didn't think Bluetooth lossless audio was possible. Am I wrong?
MAX is AAC. But Apple has implemented a method for sending lossless in hardware that came out since the Max was introduced:
AirPods Pro (2nd generation) with MagSafe Charging Case (USB-C) provides Lossless Audio with ultra-low latency when paired with Apple Vision Pro, using a proprietary wireless audio protocol.

That is interesting and I appreciate you sharing this. While the Vision Pro has that feature that allows the AirPod Pros to have lossless audio, none of my current Apple products do. I don't see how the AirPod Maxes would work with the Vision Pro.

As mentioned in a previous post, among industry analystsc, the current word is that the only differences with the next gen of the Maxes are USB C and new colors. I do think they'd be crazy not to include this update though.

If you're due to upgrade your Apple devices soon, could be worth it if the new Maxes support it.

I guess lossless could be supported over USB C if you want to go wired, but an analogue lightning to mini adapter with these will get you close enough.
