I have about 50 Kasa products in my house between switches, outlets and bulbs, love them all. Really love their app as it is so easy to use and very basic but in particular gives you a sunrise/sunset option to turn on/off so it automatically knows as time changes in your area, others don't have that simple feature. Beats the heck out of if you want a light to turn on 15 minutes before sunset and off at sunrise to continually go in the program to change the times as the seasons change.

That said, I guess like most, prices have gone up. I just bought the majority of these in 2022 (although have had others for 6 years now) and I used to buy a 3 pack of these for $34 and singles for $14 so the sale now is still higher.

Only thing I wish Kasa offered was a ceiling fan/light combo like urlhasbeenblocked does.

If you are installing these in a multi box, say 3 switches, can be a tad more difficult as these are big boxes and take up space, gotta really work the wires in to the back of the box.

If you never had these and just want to put one in for say like an outside light, trust me, you will get hooked and want these all over your house. So great if you are out, even on vacation, want to turn on lights to make it look like you are home or turn on lights before you get home, can do that from anywhere with your phone.

And to be able to group up switches in different groups, hit one button to turn on or off, love it.

LOL yep I sound like a salesman for this but honestly, this is one of the best things I've ever done in my house. Using for years now and every night at 15min before sunset when I have about 30 lights in the house come on (low dim setting) I still get a smile, it is that awesome. Even that, it is so neat to get the dimmer ones and be able to adjust the dim setting from the phone.

When you set these to turn off by themselves, do they also click off? Or just turn off?
I have several switches all throughout my house. As others have said, they do not physically toggle on/off. You press them and the electrical state changes but the physical state of the switch does not. When you set them on a schedule, the lights simply turn on or off. There is no discernible noise at the switch associated with them that I can recall.

Wish to heck they made one that didn't require a neutral. Yeah I know about the hack but I'm not messing around with hacks that could burn my house down. Also wish they made a 4-way switch.

How do you know if you have a neutral or not? I have not clue about these things. I would get an electrician to install this (along with a bunch of other items that need to be done to the house) but I'm not sure at this time if I have a neutral or not.

I am a little confused. Does that mean that the item (light) continues to draw power even if it's in the "off" state? I would want one in my garage but wouldn't want power drawing all the time when I'm not there.

So, lets assume the physical state of the switch is in the ON position, which to me is when the upper half of the rocker is pressed in and the lower half is out.

I then use some touchless method to turn the light off (App, Alexa, what have you), what is the state of the switch at the point if I push the switch down? Does it turn the lights on, or does it do nothing, and the you need to press it back up to turn them on?

Sorry for my ignorance, and I think the 'single pole' part of the description probably describes what I'm talking about to ppl who know....but I'm evidently not one of them.

It's not a traditional rocker switch.. Just a push button on the bottom each time you want to change the state of the light..

Ahhhh...well that certainly makes a hell of a lot more sense.
Thanks very much!

Seems like they released a fan/light switch not too long ago. I just installed them and they work wonderfully

That's awesome. I know not related to this thread, but can you control a fan that has the pull chain type of speed control? Mine has off and three speeds activated by pulling a chain on the fan when the switch is on. I hate it, total pain.

If your house is on the newer side you likely do. Just take the faceplate off of one of your switches. If you see a group of white wires bundled together with a screw nut connecting them in the back of your box (they won't be attached to the old switch, just pushed to the back of the box), those are your neutrals.

I've installed a ton of these at my house and can't imagine paying someone to do it. It's super easy. I'd be broke paying an electrician!

Unfortunately, it's a 1950s home. It's not even grounded, apparently. Maybe I'll give it a go and check it out. Maybe I'll just turn off the power everywhere just to make sure I don't screw anything up maybe I'll give it a go and check it out. Not a bad idea to turn the power off first. If you do that you can unscrew the existing switch as well and pull it out of the box a bit to better see what's going on inside the box. I've zapped myself a few times pulling out switches without power off as it's easy to want to grab the sides where the hot is :-). It's definitely worth a quick look. If these are compatible with your wiring you're going to get addicted to them—they work awesome.

Fully agree. Just moved and REALLY appreciating how amazing these were. Had about 30 switches. Now I'm kind of dreading installing these in our new home with more switches at a higher price point. But certainly worth the upgrade
