Thank you, but you made a mistake. Lenovo PSREF [lenovo.com] (Part Number : 82QD00DHUS) says 8GB Soldered DDR4-3200 and one DDR4 SO-DIMM slot so memory IS UPGRADABLE.
I believe you have replied to a wrong post (which should be here)

I have a Target version. Solid laptop. The 12gen I3 is great. My version has a fingerprint scanner - meh. I was never a fan of touch screens on a laptop but if you like it it will be good. Mine has an on board SSD with an open M.2 slot. I am an Excel/Access user with no problems. At this price point it is a solid buy.

Added a 32gb 3200 RAM module and the system recognizes 40 gb total. Replaced the shorter 256gb NVME SSD with a full-length 1TB NVME SSD after cloning the whole drive.
It takes a T5 screwdriver to remove 6 long and 4 short screws. Had to use a plastic pry tool to unclip the bottom cover after T5 screws were removed.
The screen at full brightness looks the same as a 250-nit screen side by side, even though the spec says 300-nit.

Anti-glare does not necessarily mean it's glossy.

"There are different types of anti-glare screens available to cater to individual preferences.

One common type is a matte anti-glare screen, which provides a slightly textured surface to disperse light and reduce glare.

Another type is a glossy anti-glare screen, which combines an anti-glare coating with a glossy finish to maintain image sharpness while minimizing reflections."

From my past experiences, I understand that Lenovo would state explicitly in specs if it's "Glossy" (e.g. https://psref.lenovo.com/Detail/I...82R7003WUS).
Otherwise, it's matte.

Thanks. I still don't think it's for me. I'd prefer to have a lit keyboard over a touch screen display, and need a fingerprint sensor as well. I'll keep searching.

Just got this. Couldn't get it out of S mode. Tried everything you can imagine. This laptop is basically useless. Returning tomorrow
Hold down shift key and click on "restart", "troubleshoot", "advance options", "startup settings", "restart", "7) disable drive signature", done.

Ok i finally got it out of S mode. There was a big window update you have to get in order to get it out of S mode. Basically get all the updates available on your window update page. It took a good 30 mins

Played with it for 2 hours. Now I am a fan of Lenovo. It runs quiet and cooler than Asus Zenbook I had for a year and it suddenly died. Screen looks good for $250. No complain.

Can this laptop charge from the USB-C port? Seems like it should, but the Questions/Answers on Best Buy says it does not.

Edit:

Number of USB Type C Charging Ports

Can someone that this laptop already confirm, it won't charge via USB-C?

anyone picked it up recently and confirm it has solder ram and/or can be upgraded?
I know others have answered but I just upgraded mine by adding a 16GB stick to the empty slot so now have 24GB RAM. No need to change anything in the BIOS or settings and install was simple.

But removing and replacing the back panel was a PAIN. Scratched the hell out of it getting it started and broke a bunch of plastic clips. Then the broken clips settled inside the slots and prevented the back panel from clipping back in for some spots. Finally shook out all the broken plastic and seated it back nice and tight.

You should definitely do it but just be prepared. Might make a video about it to help others through the process because others on Youtube didn't mention the broken clips.

I believe buying direct from Lenovo, you need an ID.me. Without it, you weren't able to add to your cart at $249.99. There was an extra $10 coupon BBYBOPIS bringing the price before tax to $239.99. Pick up at Best Buy. I don't believe there was a shipping option.

Hope that helps
Thanks got hold of ID.me, it gave another $12.50 off, they also have a easily obtainable $10 off on their page (if you clear all cookies) but they are not combinable. so $240 before tax

UPDATE: manually Installed all windows updates on window update page. An hour later got it out of S mode. S mode is the most useless thing Bill Gates ever created. You can't even install chrome on it when S mode is on lol.
Can you please provide the instructions on how to remove form S mode? thank you

There's AMEX $60 off $750 for shopping on Lenovo.com. If someone is planning to get three of these and have an Amex card..

open edge, download firefox, open the installer, you will get a prompt that says you can't install other apps with Win S, it's gonna ask you to switch, say ok and follow the screen instructions. Takes 10 secs.
