After owning this Tapo for two weeks, I agree it has better video quality and also AI detection than Eufy.

I installed one outside my garage (top corner/Northern Illinois) on Jan 30 . The quality of the video is better than my Eufy pro2 battery/hardwired .. only issue I have is a Wi-Fi sensitivity. The Eufy connect a lot faster and no buffering issue . Both are connected to a Tp-link mesh router 9plus. Thinking about installing a moca the strengthen the Wi-Fi in the room above the garage maybe that will help.

I love these - they have awesome builtin AI no sub required and native rtsp support if you want to connect to your nvr for better storage options.

Did you try downgrading the video to 1080p instead of 2K ?
That's a good point, i did not try that. Will play around this week

Anyone know of a window mount for these? Trying to replace a bunch of Wyze Cam v3s.
I like Jfletcha's suggestion, if that does not work for your use case, then search Amazon.com for the following: "Tapo C120 window mount" you will find few. But reviews are bad and I personally won't buy for that price. I already searched Ali Express and did not find an equivalent to the ones shown in Amazon. If you find an alternative please let me know.

I've owned everything from ring, blink, wyze, eufy and tapo. I will say by far Tapo is the best. They have the best software (app) and AI detection and notification. I sign up for the cloud recording which also does rich notification, it's been working great. I'm slowly starting to migrate all cameras to the tapo ecosystem and will try out their new doorbell camera next.

Daytime video quality is very good, night vision is good but it picks up glare from various objects when compared to other brands (to be fair those are expensive compared to this little guy). Having said that, WiFi is very iffy, I had a very bad experience with WiFi connectivity even when the camera was kept within 3 feet of the router. Good value for the money, fun little camera, but I would not install in a critical spot without a backup system.
If you're using this on a combined 2.4ghz and 5ghz connection try setting up a guest network that's 2.4ghz only and connect to that instead. You have to reset the camera to switch the wifi connection, but there's an option to retain your camera settings when you do so.

This might work; I totally forgot that I had a similar issue with another camera sometime back, once I changed the WiFi to 2.4ghz it worked without issues. It never occurred to me to try that. Thanks.

Is the RTSP at the same QHD resolution? Some cameras have lower res on RTSP stream than the default stream.

For those having WiFi issues the c125 supports wifi6 and I have found it much more stable than the c120. Downside is that it costs about $20 more than this on sale

I have a 5 of these around the House, and one of them connects slower than the rest. Not sure if it's defective. It is closer to the Router than other who connect faster after launching App.

Anyone know how good the compression is on this? I have a Eufy and it currently uses 20gb per 5 days of 24/7 recording. Before that I had an old QCam that did 200gb per 5 days.

I want to save up to a NAS, but don't want to waste to much storage and wifi bandwidth if compression is poor.

In paper C125 looks like a lot better than this C120; but it is only available in Best Buy that too currently listed at $60
I would definitely give a try when it comes down in price. For $60, I will go with POE cameras.

Bought 3 of these.. not a big fan so far..

The Bad
•They claim to be 2k.. In app.. sure. but as far as recording its like 720p, its terrible.. you for sure cant make out someones face..
• Camera is 'smart' with motion tracking, but yet you cannot make it automatically turn on the light when it detects motion to make sure camera footage is clear as possible..
• The 'automation' is terrible.. You cannot have alerts/notifications turn on/off based on time of day..
• You cannot make a shortcut to make it easy to turn off these notifications when you wake up.. you gotta go thru two menus of settings
• speaker is very weak

think theres other things its just very late and i am forgetful...

The good
• The light is very bright
• very affordable
• app runs good

I window mounted a Tapo camera this past weekend. I did the same thing I did with a previous camera. I simply held the base to the window and put a small strip of packing tape across it. It is near the top of the window, behind blinds so the packing tape is not noticeable. It holds well but when you want to remove, it comes off easily and any residue can be removed with goo-gone. The tapo magnetic outdoor cameras come with double sided foam adhesive disks for people that do not want to mount the base with screws. So if you also get one of those, you could repurpose the adhesive disk as a window mount. Or simply get some double sided adhesive at the hardware store.

If aimed at a window, you will want to configure the camera for "day mode" rather than "auto". This will prevent the IR from turning on at night and reflecting off the window. If there are any lights outside (ie streetlights) they should be more than sufficient to provide enough light for the Tapo cameras. The IR is really only needed if there is no light present.

You will also likely need to mount the camera upside down so the camera can be aimed slightly down. The image can be inverted in the settings so this is not a problem.

I just bought this window screen mount for it. Good solution for my rental home without drilling and big gust of wind should not knock it out. Will be testing it out https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CW23J2K8
