Worked for about a year and was good enough. The AA wireless device (different device than this) has a slew of features and an app. The feature I ended up needing was to scale the android auto interface differently than OEM. It also switches between Apple and Android for those of you who also live in a house divided. Still a good deal for this one if you want a basic device.

Some newer cars don't have wireless android auto only wired AA by plugging in. This is nice to fix that and keeping your phone in your pocket

I've had 2 of these. Both lasted a little longer than a year before dying. I think the heat kills them.

I had to stop using mine. Kept disconnecting at random periods of time and would take a long time to reconnect, or require unplugging, which was frustrating while driving. It also was a pain when I switched phones. Ended up just using a better USB cable to wire directly in.

hahaha was literally just going through my Amazon wish-list and came across this like 5 minutes before coming to SD. Figured I'd bite the bullet and check it out to see if it's worth the lack of (or added) hassle.

What's the appeal of this device besides being able to connect wirelessly? Immediate drawbacks that come to mind are that it adds another interface layer between the car and the phone, plus I don't get to charge the phone anymore while driving either.
I have been using it for a year and can actually just plug my phone it to charge it when I need to which is rare. But having wireless access to AA is very worth it since you don't need to fumble around with your phone

Have had the same issue to a lesser degree, this is still worth using even with once weekly connection drops

Could be heat related, was this stored in a glove box or center console? I find these types of dongles need open air around them.

I plug wired to my 23 Sienna and my Subaru, they disconnect regardless. Android is just crap half the time esp if it goes through dead spots etc for mobile service. I have variations of pixel pros, they all disconnect randomly wired or AA wireless. Doesn't matter. Android sucks half the time that's all.

I'll bite, it's cheap enough. Buying the Square trade All State warranty just in case.

Had this unit for about 2 years. The first one stopped connecting just under a year in. Seems to be an issue for some of them. Motorola sent me a new one without issue. Second one has been good so far.

It's in my wife's car and she swears by it. She plays her music through AA and no longer has to plug it in each time she gets in the car.

Tried one of those no-name devices and it didn't work with my S21 and CX-5. I trust that when I get this that it will work.
That trust might be misplaced. I've had this for about 18 months. For my Pixel 6, it has never worked with my 2016 VW, but has always worked with my wife's 2023 Hyundai. Or at least it did up until one month ago when it suddenly stopped working in my wife's car as well. Based on the LEDs that light up, it seems like it's constantly rebooting every 5 seconds.

Even when it was working in my wife's car, I'd have about one out of 15 times turning the car on and it wouldn't work until I rebooted my phone and restarted the car. Now it's just a brick and I'm back to plugging my phone into both cars.

I also have a 2016 VW and android auto has always been spotty at best. My wife's iPhone works well with carplay, so Im hoping this will play nice. Right now I can't use android auto at all (it tries and then just disconnects me). Please no advice on what I can do differently, Ive been through the gamut of options in the last 7 years and there's just no good solution.
