Worked for about a year and was good enough. The AA wireless device (different device than this) has a slew of features and an app. The feature I ended up needing was to scale the android auto interface differently than OEM. It also switches between Apple and Android for those of you who also live in a house divided. Still a good deal for this one if you want a basic device.

Some newer cars don't have wireless android auto only wired AA by plugging in. This is nice to fix that and keeping your phone in your pocket

Well I spoke to soon, my finally died yesterday, so much for my 2 year streak lol.

The new AA wireless v2 looks like is supposed to come out in Q3/Q4 of this year, may wait to see how that reviews.

Decent deal on this device, but as frequently stated, it will fail in a reasonably short amount of time. I have had 4, 2 original purchases and 2 warranty replacements, only one of those devices still functions and that is because it primarily stays unplugged and resting comfortably in my glove box, only seeing light of day when I am traveling long distance or somewhere new. I live in a warm dry area and I suspect the heat contributes to their early demise, so I no longer leave it plugged in. When it works, it is a decent device, just prepare to replace it annually (approximately) if you use it alot.

I've used AA for a year but decided to give this Ma1 a try. First impressions are:

1. Ma1 Needs no app and comes on faster than the AA
2. Ma1 uses only Bluetooth vs WiFi + Bluetooth for AA
3. Audio on videos isn't out of sync like they would be with AA
4. My phone also doesn't get hot with the Motorola like it would with the AA

I think I'll stick to the Motorola for now for all these reasons. I suspect my battery life will improve as well.

Mine only lasted about 1 year. Then it started rebooting randomly.

I've owned this for maybe 2+ years and never had any issues. This works great. I have a 2019 Audi, and it has android Auto, but I have to use a usb cable to use it. I wanted to use this for two reasons not having to plug it in to use and to also use my usb-c rapid car charger to charge my phone vs the slow built in USB-A plug that you have to use to use android auto.

I also have a 2016 VW and android auto has always been spotty at best. My wife's iPhone works well with carplay, so Im hoping this will play nice. Right now I can't use android auto at all (it tries and then just disconnects me). Please no advice on what I can do differently, Ive been through the gamut of options in the last 7 years and there's just no good solution.
buy a new car.

Always angered me that my car had AA but required hard wire, gave this a go to see if it could handle the task. Have had mine for a few years now, it works great. Pretty simple set up and no real upkeep. Never had an issue with it. Definitely a good buy if your need to add in wireless to your Android auto experience

I just got it yesterday and started having issues right away on my half hour drive. Connecting was easy enough, but started getting the error "Android device not responding" on my car every five minutes. This dongle got very hot too.

Garbage. Had two. Each lasted less than a year. Wired is just much easier since I know it works.

As others have alluded this thing drains the battery of the phone. I got caught with my pants down when I ran out of battery and didn't have a USB cable for backup.

I bought this for my Jeep and had to return it since the USB port is always powered even when the Jeep is off. Bought the AA brand since it has an option in the app to disconnect when the Bluetooth from the Jeep disconnects from the phone.
