I did a bunch of research between this TV and the Costco 100U70N w/ ext warranty plus mounting for $2199. The only differences I saw was the U8 is a miniLED panel rather than a QLED and has over 1000 local dimming panels rather than 270ish with the U70N. I also believe it's a little more energy efficient at 350w vs 500w. Ultimately I chose the Costco deal because the price was just too attractive with the perks. It gets delivered on Thursday.

Not sure you made the right decision here. Miniled vs qled is night and day difference especially for hdr. Extended warranty is another story..

Can you elaborate? I have the 85u8k and been really happy with it.

Yea. I know the U8 is a better TV but the price and perks put it over the edge for me. I've never owned a Hisense panel before.

Going in a media room with no windows.
The u8 is worth the difference in price and then some. It doesn't have a great image processor (neither does the 7) but the actual display is top notch, incredible blacks for a non-oled, which you will notice in that windowless room.

Also Costco TV return policy is 90 days

The nice thing about getting it from Best Buy when it's $3000 is they offer free mounting. I purchased this model from Amazon when it first came out, and it's an absolute bear to get out and mount. I unfortunately had to return the tv because it was bent/defective and they didn't have additional inventory at the time.
Would they mount any mount you buy? Or does it have to be a specific one

Just got this TV from best buy. Amazing picture and sound is so good I'll be sticking with the built in speakers (have sound bars on my other tvs)
I got best buy to match the $2800 plus signed up for best buy visa for additional 15% off
Only downside is the "free install" is booked 6 weeks out in my area so I had to unbox it and install myself. It's heavy.

The costco extended warranty does start after the manufacturers expires. Is the upgrade from the 75 to the 8 worth dropping the warranty? As mentioned before, I've got no experience with hisense panels but I am concerned of the quality.

how do these compare to a projector if you can control the room light?
This will be better than a projector, unless this isn't big enough for you.

Size isn't everything though, I got rid of my projectors for a 77" oled.

Same. Was just getting larger and larger TVs. Decided to just drop money on a 77 inch OLED and call it a day. I will be happy for years. I have TVs from almost ten years ago and they're still fine too, just not 4k.

Yes. It is worth it. You can buy a 2 or 3 year warranty for it from Amazon (asurion) for $300. Or check your credit cards, many will double your warranty in purchases. Miniled is way better. And thousands of dimming zones vs hundreds makes a big difference. It won't match oled but it will be miles better than led with hundreds of zones.

This is not a tv you want to "swap" after it's up and mounted. It's a huge pain at this size. You want it up for years to enjoy. I recommend paying a bit more now and enjoying it for the long haul.

Costco's warranty also just extends the manufacturer warranty whereas third party warranties sometimes have other perks like accident coverage too. Check the fine print on the Hisense warranty though. It says if there isn't an authorized repair facility within a 50m radius of you, you have to pack up and ship the tv back to them at your cost.

A 3rd party warranty probably wouldn't even bother and cut you a check for the cost to replace it.

I've got both. I'm watching the QLED now in the bedroom. The MLED has much deeper blacks and richer colors in my opinion. I wasn't be believer in the deeper blacks everyone talked about until I had a TV with deep blacks. It makes all colors more vibrant. I wish this deal had been here a month ago. I would have bought this for my bedroom. It's 22ft from my headboard to the TV and ever since I turned 40 my eyes have been getting worse. ahahah

Any you provide as long as it can support it (they won't try mounting this on a mount rated only for a 55" tv obviously). I had to buy an extra extra wide mount for this tv since my studs are 24" on center and I needed it to span 3 of them to get the mount centered where I wanted it so the mount had to be over 50" wide.

Yikes...glad I bought the 5 year Best Buy Geek Squad protection when I bought my U8H last year

I am certain that any mid size( and larger) metro area has a service provider within 50 miles...but still that could be a nightmare if you did not have one in the correct proximity

I bought it 2 weeks ago from Best Buy at 3300. I was on chat last night and they confirmed price march. I received an email today with them now refusing to price match.

I would return it then

What reason did they give for the refusal?
