Funny I never verified anything I just press the edu button and it gives me a discount. Every time. Done it for multiple purchases in multiple accounts in the last year

I have a weird feeling that many know about this but nobody says because they are worried it'll get patched or something

If you copy a 1GB file, 990 will probably be 1s faster, yeah that is it

Really starting to hate the Samsung site, because every time I try to sign in to their programs it tells me "we're sending you a one time code to your email to verify" and try as I might with resending multiple times, no email is ever sent.

Is 990 PRO PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD 4TB for $242.99 a decent deal? Or should wait for better deal next week?
What's your definition of "decent deal" ? Is it the cheapest 4TB drives on the market? Absolutely no, it's about 25% more expensive. Is it the cheapest 4TB drive that is TLC and has DRAM? no, but it's really close in price. Is it a good price for a Samsung 990 pro? Yes, it absolutely is. That said, it's also not a one of a kind price either, even if you want this specific drive I wouldn't be surprised if at the very least it's the same price in coming weeks, so you're not missing a deal. And if all you care is a 4TB drive, then yeah there most likely will be other options at or below this price point.

So I would say, no need to jump on it.

To be clear, I don't need a heatsink if my motherboard already comes with one right?

Correct

Don't forget the 15% CB from a popular site.

Do you actually have an EDU account though? Many of us don't.

No I don't. I have a regular account. About a year and half ago it never worked and I never had edu discount and then one day it just worked and has worked since. Even works on new accounts I make. Also it doesn't need to be edu, all of the discounts work for me (military etc)

Where is this "edu button" on Samsung's website? Because I don't see it.
It is on the product page, not the checkout page. There is a little popup right under or above the products title.

Thanks so much for this. I always thought I didn't qualify for any of these Samsung deals since I didn't qualify but just tried out your instructions and was able to get one for the deal's price. Tysm!

Is this good to put in an enclosure to use with a Mac mini or MacBook pro? Would it require a heatsink for that purpose? Thanks!

it was a real pain in the butt, but I managed to get the discount via my id.me military/veteran verification. basically, go to id.me and sign in. then go to the "shop" tab on id.me and search samsung. this will take you to samsungs page where it creates some kind of temp/virtual samsung account for you. you might wind up in a loop where you have to verify via id.me a couple times. in the end, you wind up at a special "military program" page on samsung, however it doesnt have this drive on it and I dont see any way to get to it. what i wound up doing was simply copying the link to the deal/page at the top of the slickdeals page and pasting it into the same browser tab that was open with the military discount shopping page. it magically showed the drive with the desired discount. what a hassle!

The motherboard heatsink should be sufficient. That's what I use on all my builds.

I'm seeing 6.99 for shipping on the checkout screen when going through the EDU store. Strange!

Interesting. It used to work like this for me , and last time there was a sale, it started to ask me to verify. I didn't even buy anything for a while except budpros 2 like 2022
