If the failure is complete lack of power, the culprit is undoubtedly the thermal fuse, the weak point of all these Breville appliances. We've had our Breville BOV800XL for at least a dozen years, and I just wired in a new thermal fuse a few days ago for the fourth time. I've also had controls get wonky, which thankfully can be resolved by cleaning the PCB with alcohol, much like you might do with a remote control. These aren't trivial repairs, so you need to be handy, but there are plenty of good posts and videos online showing you what to do.

We've had one of these for 2 years. We rarely turn on our standard electrical oven. It takes up a lot of counter space but it's honestly worth it.

Most major retailers currently have the same sale price. Check cashback websites for additional cashback. Macy's has 15% cashback and the same sale price plus $10 in Macy's cash for every $50 spent up to a maximum of $40.

So you could buy it for $299.95 with free shipping and get 44.99 cashback and $40 in Macy's cash to spend later.

PayPal payment using Chase Freedom would offer another 5% cashback on the sale price.

I bought my last one July 2017, it still works, but gotta open and close it a few times for it start counting down time, its time to change it.

ordered for $300 from BB, and used PayPal 5% offer, and 2% cb site offer, isn't the best, but its in stock nearby vs waiting a week for Macys, and I dont really want Macys $40 credit. everything expensive there.

I checked Marshalls, tj max, etc for a month, we havnt had any. no big deal. but would of loved 250/200

it lived its life, it went through like 4 room mates that used and abused it like 10x a day, I swear by this model, it is worth it to buy it again, and because it does work, my gf might give it to her younger college brother, despite its annoying gotta open close it a few times to get it count down. better than nothing!

Do you specifically use the air fryer tray for air frying? If you put any aluminum foil below the fryer tray or use the pizza tray or the baking tray the air fry doesn't work as well.

Only use the air fryer basket with the netting as it allows air to circulate around the entire unit. My wife used the trays and said the air fryer sucks. I told her she's using it wrong. Using the air fryer tray only works great.
Honestly sometimes it's basket only, but sometimes it's with parchment paper, but that's a big part of the problem. With a classic air fryer basket, all of the oil and trip end up at the bottom of the basket and can be cleaned easily by throwing the whole basket into the dishwasher. If you go air fryer tray only on this Breville, all of that oil and drippings get all over, and the inside of any toaster oven is not easy to clean. Also this oven isn't exactly small. It needs to move air through a pretty big space compared to a pretty compact space in an air fryer. Wings and fries come out way crispier using my cheap $30 Bella fryer.

There's a small fix for that... There's a bushing that gets worn and causes an internal switch to not get touched when the door closes, basically it thinks the door is opened and pauses the timer.
This basically explains it:

I could fix it, but the buttons and stuff are wonky now too, im all for repairing things, but this bad boy has bene through hell and back. lol. it was so bad with room mates, that I took it outside and put oven cleaner in it, and used a hose and literally washed it out a few times, then put a fan to blow it out.

its time, it needs to rest in peace. its crazy it lasted this long with our abuse.

300 I paid for it back in 2017, so I paid 40 a year average. I havnt turned my real oven on once in 7 years. it takes forever, and we just make small stuff for my gf and I, (and roomies) that are now gone as of this year. woot woot

if next one develops the issue, I will be fixing it, its just too darn old/nasty/time for new one this time round.

It literally takes like 20mins to get to temp, and it's a hassle reaching into and out of it.
I just prefer this countertop oven, it's absolutely wonderful, preheats in 2 minutes, and it uses 1/4 the energy as a real oven. you convert that, I probably saved 300 in 7 years of energy / would of been compared to using real oven.

I bought my house in 2016. the oven/dishwasher/fridge/microwave are dated 2007. whirlpool gold signature.

Refrigerator died 2 years ago exactly, dishwasher is still going like a champ, always perfectly clean dishes etc, but the lights on top are now permanently on, they used to turn off lol. microwave, I dont think it'll ever break, its a microwave.

When I bought the house, my inspector failed to test oven/stove, the oven was making terrible fan noise, it was rubbing against the metal heat shield, I pulled it off, and fixed it. so thats fixed. but yeah it just takes forever to preheat. Stove works perfectly fine.

I pay my house off in 3months, (yay!) I would of had it paid off sooner, but kinda just bought 2,000 costco wylder sectional (slick deal post) and (two) samsung 85 QNX1D deals, (950 out the door each) and such, and a car repair for 1k this week. so blah.

I guess now that the end is near on mortgage, I have felt this enlightened feeling on, fixing everything/upgrading the furniture thats been worn out.

I got an LG refrigerator from Costco which is really nice.
looking at this dishwasher when goes on sale next year for 800sh
https://www.costco.com/bosch-800-...06279.html

and stove/oven im not worried about today, but if it dies, will upgrade to LG as well

oh yeah, my Furnace & ac are like 25 years old lol... and water heater, I have no fricken idea, but im not replacing it til it dies.

Check your Target circle, it's down to $229.49 for me, and a bunch of other items on SD that were on front page is also 25% off:
Should I buy this Breville or not at $229? or get the Cusinart Air Fryer Toaster Oven CTOA-122 at $76

What is that, a (ymmv) targeted (no pun intended) offer? Cause I'm getting $299. I would jump on this for $229.

targeted evidently, I didnt get it there. I got a 10 dollar off, which makes it 289. (which isn't worth me canceling my Best Buy order) as I got 5% off (15) PayPal offer cashbakc
