Dont mind him, hes completely wrong all the time and I have disproved his idiocy on multiple occasions.

Example #1 ooh look a firmware update for an almost 5+ year old router just released this year in Janurary.

https://www.tp-link.com/us/suppor.../#Firmware

Example #2, well not really an example but there are no wifi 6E router in this price range so hes just being a troll.

Overall this is a great router for anyone who has modest needs, if you have internet speeds under 700Mbps, 20-30 devices in your home, and 1000-1500 sqft for optimal signal strength. Great for apartments or small to medium sized homes.

Also I dont recommend the other AX1800 TP-Link router cause it overheated when not properly ventilated, they fixed that in this AX21 version so completely recommend.

Ooh and this support One Mesh which means it will mesh with their extender line of products seamlessly, just to continue to show how uninformed he is.
Not even wifi 6E, no more firmware updates, chock full of security vulnerabilities, can't mesh or use open firmware. Did we miss anything else? This is essentially ewaste.

I've been using this router for the last couple of years and have had a good experience with it and no complaints. I've heard Wi-Fi 7 is a waste at this point. What's the best (reasonably priced) option currently?

I have this and it works great. I do have to tweak it to make all my devices stay connected and be stable.

Saw something that said CCP (Chinese government) uses a backdoor for TP Link products.

I have an OLD ASS Netgear Nighthawk 7600 AC7300? I can't remember since it's like 5 years old or longer. Is this thing an upgrade to that? I don't even know anymore.
I'm sure wiif 6 is new. (and I only have wifi 6 devices, not 7 so I don't care to future proof for an expensive wifi 7 router)

Had to do store pickup in order for promo to work, which is ok since it's close by. My Netgear Nighthawk AC 1900 is getting a bit old so I'll give this a go and see if it's any major improvement. The CCP can check out my gaming habits all they want.

If that's all they could do, sure, not a big deal but they use your router as an attack vector to infiltrate your network. Passwords, banking info, sensitive email, all enroute to the PRC. It's a real threat.

This is an entry level router compared to what you had which would have at the time been a medium to high end router.

As I mentioned previously if you dont have a lot of devices 20-30 and internet speeds under 700Mbps yes it will be an upgrade over an AC device which had lesser speeds per band and less overall capacity.

Maybe, but most of the new routers are all just hype. I use a 10 year old Cisco Linksys E2500 with DD-wrt firmware, along an old TP-link AP through my mesh system and it still works flawlessly.

Yes I don't have any internal transfers between machines and the uplink is just 300Mbs. I have been fine with my router most of the time. Maybe once every 6 months I'd have to reset it if wifi is wonky.

I will just use it until it dies.

I guess I'll just do another update. My router works better than the Verizon Fios tall rectangular router when they gave me the free router so I'm not using that fios router either. smh.
