Not sure about the hate here. I have been using this as an access point and the AX55 (also on deep sale) as my main router for years with no issues. TP Link is constantly rated as a top choice by almost every review site. Some folks don't care about open firmware and the TP APP is nice and easy to use. I would like more firmware updates but, as I said, no issues. A lot of the security stuff is politics. TP-Link ranks low on the list of networking vendors with known exploited vulnerabilities. So tp link might get a ban in the states as 3 government agencies are looking into at the moment and they are currently being investigated by the Justice department for possibly selling under cost. I work for one of the biggest isp in the states and no longer recommend their product to friends or family and I recently removed all TP-link equipment from my house.
