As cheap as this is, it isnt worth it. Circular saw is decent for thin stuff. Jig saw is a POS that cannot cut following a line and you will want to replace it. So $58 for the circular saw is not worth it, you can get the 6" one for teh same price on sale.

Seeing this ryobi jig saw gets a lot of hate. Is there another ryobi version that performs better?

For 1 inch stuff this circular saw is great. I had to take a little over 1/8 off the side of an old wooden screen door. Didn't have anything to rig a guide for skill saw so tried one of these freehand. I picked up the scrap and was amazed - less than a 1/16 and perfectly uniform the whole eighty something inches.

I only pick up a circular saw a couple times a year so there was no skill involved.

Not at the moment. I ended up getting a brushless Milwaukee because I own ryobi and milwaukee 12V batteries/tools/ The non-brushless Milwaukee had the same issue as the ryobi jig (same company owner) until they redesigned it and the new Milwaukee version is fine. There is a flaw in the design of the Ryobi such that the blade will twist since it is not properly supported and wander from where you are trying to cut. The simplest straight cut it will not do, much less a curve. Ryobi generally makes decent tools for homeowners, simply not as durable, but this jigsaw is the exception and is the worst Ryobi tool they make, much worse than even their bits and blades.

no. the blade wander is real, the accuracy is low, and the power is lacking.

Similar for the circular saw, it's just horribly underpowered. Use it for the smallest of projects, it'll seem fine. Do anything beyond that, you'll see the limit quickly.

I see no reason to pay for this for one small use...get something better and you'll never worry about whether it can or can't

Better is corded or probably 4x this if you go with Milwaukee cordless.

If you are homeowner doing light jobs, and already deeply embedded in Ryobi, this is fine. If you are a professional or have a big project, I'd definitely steer clear.

There's always something better. Wink

Disagree...
This would be leaps and bounds better for $99

That OP saw, and i've owned it, isn't worth owning. If you are in the market for a circular saw, get one that'll work "fine" for now but also "great" for nearly anything you can possibly throw at it. Don't buy cheap tools for now, buy good tools for now and later.
