However, I'd probably recommend some kind of extended warranty if purchasing from Adorama given I wasn't alone with problems from Onkyo receivers of this generation. I eventually replaced it with a refurbished Denon AVR-S760H and that's been going on 2 years without any hiccups.

It's worked fine for me for years, and the only real downside is that my receiver can't decode Atmos. The problem is that lately it's getting harder and harder to find DTS-HD MA content. It seems like everything is moving toward Atmos now.
In basic terms, Atmos is built on top of legacy content(ie DTS-HD MA).
When you play Atmos content & you don't have the proper setup.
It reverts back to whichever legacy content the content was originally built on.
If it's not DTS-HD MA, your receiver will compensate for it and should be fine.

Dolby Atmos -> Dolby True HD -> Dolby Digital+ -> Dolby Digital 5.1
DTS:X -> DTS-HD MA -> DTS-HD HR -> DTS 5.1
I suggest you stop talking about audio codecs, especially if you weren't interested/involved in the HD format war b/w BD (Blu-ray) and HD-DVD.
Reading comprehension, is not strong with this one!!!
If you play Atmos content on a non Atmos setup it reverts to legacy options!!

I tried the November 2025 version (the latest) and here's what it did every time:
