Another slick deals front pager
Even after almost 6 years on the market..I still say its worth the $599 if its at least as sonically capable as the Onkyo RZ50 I used to own
Its somewhat amazing Onkyo is getting all this time out of these same models. I have never seen this phenomenon before
At this point they certainly have long captured their development costs and can sell them aggressively priced. Probably a good thing for a section of the market like slick deals
Actual owners seem to be very happy with these models
I suggest reading through the AVS owners' thread for information from them

If you're after Dirac Live, this is least expensive option right now.
Community Reviews
The TX NR7100 stands out as a budget friendly way to get Dirac Live, with the $599 price repeatedly framed as the cheapest current entry point and especially strong value when the extra code drops it further. It is praised for easy setup, solid sound, and enough power for normal listening, with 7.2.2 support and two sub outputs adding flexibility. The main drawbacks are its age, lack of pre outs, and basic AccuEQ fallback, plus reports of limp mode or protection behavior with low impedance speakers and occasional reliability concerns. A good fit if Dirac matters more than future proofing or heavy amp expansion.
Home theater buyers who want Dirac Live on a midpriced receiver, because it is repeatedly described as the least expensive way to get it.
Shoppers building a 7.2.2 system who do not need pre-outs, because it offers extra processing channels and enough features for that layout.
Movie listeners using normal-volume 8-ohm speakers, because the receiver is described as handling typical listening levels without trouble.
Owners replacing an older AVR for straightforward setup, because it is reported to install easily and sound as good or better than prior receivers.
Buyers who need pre-outs for external amplification, because this model does not include them and workarounds add cost and complexity.
Listeners with true 3-4 ohm front speakers at loud volumes, because the receiver can struggle and may enter power-limiting behavior.
People expecting advanced room correction beyond basic Dirac access, because it lacks DLBC and other newer bass-correction features.
Shoppers who want a future-proof receiver, because it is a 5-plus-year-old design with limited features and basic AccuEQ fallback.

Chasing the holy grail of DIRAC LIVE.
There are a few other benefits, but selling the old S760 to cover about half the upgrade cost made it worthwhile.
Do I night it's night and day better? Of course not. Not even close. After A1 Evo AcoustiX I probably would fail a blind test on which was better, TBH.
But I enjoy this stuff, and it was fun.

It doesn't improve equipment quality & does have a learning curve.
