The TX NR7100 stands out as a budget friendly way to get Dirac Live, with onboard room correction and 7.2.2 support making it especially appealing at $599. The price is often framed as the cheapest current entry into Dirac, and the sound is described as strong enough to replace older Onkyo, Denon, Integra, and Harman Kardon receivers. The main tradeoffs are its age, lack of pre outs, and parallel sub outs, which limit future expansion. There are also repeated concerns about warm running, power limiting with low impedance speakers, and occasional reliability or recovery issues.

Does adorama still call you on the phone after purchase of and say you must call to complete the transaction so they can try to upsell you on warranty and such? I had that experience years back and have not bought from them since because of that.

Bought from them (online) in August, and also back in 2023; never got any phone call (that I know of; it's always possible that it could have been caught by phone spam filtering and never reached me).

Would it be worth upgrading from a Denon S760? Considering for the extra 2 channels.
Only if you needed the extra channels imo.

I've bought lots of stuff from them in the past year and never gotten a call or voicemail or email like that.

I did.

Chasing the holy grail of DIRAC LIVE. Smilie

There are a few other benefits, but selling the old S760 to cover about half the upgrade cost made it worthwhile.

Do I night it's night and day better? Of course not. Not even close. After A1 Evo AcoustiX I probably would fail a blind test on which was better, TBH.

But I enjoy this stuff, and it was fun.

Dirac live is probably one of the most overrated things in the audio world. Upgraded and it was a total downgrade in sound quality

It's not for everyone & not a magic pill.
It doesn't improve equipment quality & does have a learning curve.

"Room correction" generally is massively overrated/overhyped. Just a way to sucker consumers into shelling out more money for fancier receivers while the industry continues to cut corners on the actual HARDWARE (i.e. power supplies) inside the receivers, which is why they keep getting lighter and lighter. Generally, unless your room is a uniquely BAD acoustic environment, RC's most audible improvement is 250Hz and under, iow it yields audible benefits mainly on the SUBS, esp. when compensating for room nulls.

How much did you pay for your KEFs?
I got them used. $1,700 for both R5 and 700 for the R2.

I suggest getting a receiver that doesn't cost less than one of your speakers (used). You want your system to have some sort of synergy. What's the point of a Ferrari w/a KIA engine?
