Another slick deals front pager
Even after almost 6 years on the market..I still say its worth the $599 if its at least as sonically capable as the Onkyo RZ50 I used to own
Its somewhat amazing Onkyo is getting all this time out of these same models. I have never seen this phenomenon before
At this point they certainly have long captured their development costs and can sell them aggressively priced. Probably a good thing for a section of the market like slick deals
Actual owners seem to be very happy with these models
I suggest reading through the AVS owners' thread for information from them

If you're after Dirac Live, this is least expensive option right now.
Community Reviews
The TX NR7100 stands out as a low priced way to get Dirac Live and 7.2.2 support, with several comments calling it the cheapest Dirac AVR at this price and a strong value versus newer Onkyo and Denon options. Setup is described as easy, and the receiver is said to sound excellent with normal listening levels, especially when paired with a subwoofer and room correction. The main cautions are its age, lack of pre outs and independent sub outs, and reports of power limiting or limp mode with low impedance speakers. A few long term reliability complaints and one overheating concern also surface, so it looks best for standard home theater use with typical 8 ohm speakers.
Dirac Live is available onboard at no extra charge, which makes the $599 price point attractive for calibration-focused setups.
Setup can be straightforward, and the unit has worked as a replacement for older AVRs in at least some home theater transitions.
The receiver can deliver strong real-world results after room calibration, including clearer center dialogue and improved low-end fidelity.
ARC and eARC can produce indistinguishable sound for some setups, so the receiver may still work well even without chasing eARC-specific differences.
The TX-NR7100 can show poor behavior with 4-ohm speaker loads, including a power-limiting "limp mode" risk that may not be clearly indicated.
The unit lacks pre-outs and parallel subwoofer outputs, which can limit expansion options compared with models that offer those features.
Dirac Live may not improve sound for every system, and some users report a downgrade in sound quality after upgrading.
Coupon and deal pricing can be unreliable, since at least one report says the coupon code stopped working.

Chasing the holy grail of DIRAC LIVE.
There are a few other benefits, but selling the old S760 to cover about half the upgrade cost made it worthwhile.
Do I night it's night and day better? Of course not. Not even close. After A1 Evo AcoustiX I probably would fail a blind test on which was better, TBH.
But I enjoy this stuff, and it was fun.

It doesn't improve equipment quality & does have a learning curve.
