Another slick deals front pager
Even after almost 6 years on the market..I still say its worth the $599 if its at least as sonically capable as the Onkyo RZ50 I used to own
Its somewhat amazing Onkyo is getting all this time out of these same models. I have never seen this phenomenon before
At this point they certainly have long captured their development costs and can sell them aggressively priced. Probably a good thing for a section of the market like slick deals
Actual owners seem to be very happy with these models
I suggest reading through the AVS owners' thread for information from them

If you're after Dirac Live, this is least expensive option right now.
Community Reviews
The TX NR7100 stands out as a budget friendly way to get Dirac Live, with the $599 price repeatedly framed as the cheapest current entry point and especially strong value when the extra code drops it further. It is praised for easy setup, solid sound, and enough power for normal listening, with 7.2.2 support and two sub outputs adding flexibility. The main drawbacks are its age, lack of pre outs, and basic AccuEQ fallback, plus reports of limp mode or protection behavior with low impedance speakers and occasional reliability concerns. A good fit if Dirac matters more than future proofing or heavy amp expansion.
Dirac Live is available onboard at no extra charge, which makes the $599 price more compelling for Dirac-focused setups.
The receiver can be used with ARC or eARC connections without an audible difference for some media sources.
The unit can support a 2.1 music configuration by switching speaker channel settings, then return to full Atmos music features when needed.
The TX-NR7100 can be paired with external amplification by adding line-out style pre-outs, which can help when internal power feels insufficient.
The receiver may enter a power-limiting "limp mode" with low-impedance loads, and it can reduce output without clear indication.
The TX-NR7100 lacks pre-outs and uses parallel sub outputs, which can limit expansion and future-proofing for some buyers.
Audio can reportedly stop after changing a Dirac calibration slot, and restoring sound reportedly required physically disconnecting power.
Network setup can be a chore, and the wireless UI can feel gimmicky with limited functionality after connection.

If you stick to popular brands, it shouldn't be junk.
If you mean the condition.
Asking questions like condition, why selling and demo prior to buying.
If they can't demo should be a red flag imo.
15 years old, died, can't guarantee that it works.
Free, sure no gamble.
Cost, look elsewhere imo.
You keep that in mind on what cost you're willing to gamble.
In my experience, look for someone knowledgeable that can tell you of use and why selling are good indicators.
They will usually have a way to demo/test it out also.
I get/understand not liking the hassle.
If you have no brand preference, this is pretty good for new.
It might be worth paying the higher cost for that reassurance.

You seem to have skipped some logic and math classes!
I'm all ears, please educate me on the "logic and math" why this is better?
what a trash web site Adorama has
Do you mean the logic & math that as you just pointed out, he already "owns" this Frankenstein setup and would be paying an ADDITIONAL $700-800 to do exactly the same thing!
I'm all ears, please educate me on the "logic and math" why this is better?
Notice how my second sentence begins with an "if". That's called a conditional statement. I'm not telling tuan360 to do anything nor did he express a desire for a new AVR.

I'll ask again, if you own the 7100 & need preouts, why is $700-800 better than $200?
BTW "Others/if" needed pre-outs, they would not be looking/considering at/the 7100 ...... DUH!
