The TX NR7100 stands out as a budget friendly way to get Dirac Live, with onboard room correction and 7.2.2 support making it especially appealing at $599. The price is often framed as the cheapest current entry into Dirac, and the sound is described as strong enough to replace older Onkyo, Denon, Integra, and Harman Kardon receivers. The main tradeoffs are its age, lack of pre outs, and parallel sub outs, which limit future expansion. There are also repeated concerns about warm running, power limiting with low impedance speakers, and occasional reliability or recovery issues.

Onkyo TX-NR6050 owner here. Here's my issue with Onkyos in the year 2026 since the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. While sound quality is more than adequate for my needs (classical music / opera / jazz / TV sound), the technology feels stuck in the 80s. Wireless UI requires hoops and hoops to jump over (and it offers precious nothing). The remote (despite the fact it has music control buttons) cannot drive Onkyo (sic!) CD player, updates are nonexistant and Bluetooth might or might not work.I'm still content with my device but I doubt my next upgrade will be Onkyo.
What's the issue with the wireless UI? It lets you join your local WAP; what else should it do?

Connecting it to the network is a chore. And, when connected, it is basically a gimmick with little functionality to offer. Again, not a dealbreaker but those annoying things do accumulate.

I had no issue connecting to mine; it works fine for shooting Apple Music to it. What else should an AVR do? Sorry - I'm completely confused - the WAP GUI allows you to connect to a WAP, and the AVR has the normal music endpoints on it all the other AVRs have. What's missing or what's wrong exactly ?

How much did you pay for your KEFs?

I would suggest passing mainly because this is 5+ years old & limited features.

IF Dirac is a big draw, I would suggest waiting for the RZ30 to hit $700.
Well worth the extra $100 imo.

I would also suggest investing in a 3 channel external amp for those KEFs.
You could look for used, will save you more money.
That may take a little patience though.
The advantage, those KEFs do prefer clean solid power and internal power becomes a moot point/irrelevant going forward.
That is, if you have pre outs, which this doesn't & RZ30 does.
Buy once,cry once I say.

Loooong time reader.... Love this find & community. My pioneer VSX 1211 from Black Fri 2008 just died. It seemed the AV/audiophile culture was dead. Thank you for this gem and confirming ppl do enjoy quality sound systems. I had just upgraded to an RSL sub too

Now berate me that I'm connecting Polk monitor 70s from the same BF oh so long ago (they still crank tunes!)

Would it be worth upgrading from a Denon S760? Considering for the extra 2 channels.
