The TX NR7100 stands out as a low priced way to get Dirac Live and 7.2.2 support, with several comments calling it the cheapest Dirac AVR at this price and a strong value versus newer Onkyo and Denon options. Setup is described as easy, and the receiver is said to sound excellent with normal listening levels, especially when paired with a subwoofer and room correction. The main cautions are its age, lack of pre outs and independent sub outs, and reports of power limiting or limp mode with low impedance speakers. A few long term reliability complaints and one overheating concern also surface, so it looks best for standard home theater use with typical 8 ohm speakers.

Here's my quote: "So you basically spent about $200 worth of Russound for your workaround? If buying new, I'd save the $200 and put it towards an RZ30 deal instead of this 7100 (it's SD and Adorama is still around so you know it's coming...)."

Notice how my second sentence begins with an "if". That's called a conditional statement. I'm not telling tuan360 to do anything nor did he express a desire for a new AVR.
Nice attempt to move the goalposts, but your original comment literally starts with "So you basically spent about $200 worth of Russound for your workaround?" and telling him what he should have done. Calling someone's functional setup a "Frankenstein setup" and claiming they "skipped logic and math classes" when they're just sharing how they solved their issue is pure condescension. Pretending now that you were talking to "everyone else" doesn't change how targeted your first response was.

$200 was my estimate for how many Russound units tuan360 would need for his 9 channel setup as each device handles 2 speakers at $50 a pop. There's nothing wrong with that estimate and tuan360 can tell me I'm way off base if he'd like (note how my first sentence was in the form of a question).

The second sentence is a conditional statement that poses a theoretical scenario that adding $200 to a new $600 7100 (in this thread) is pretty much putting you in the same ballpark as other AVRs in SD that already have the pre-outs (RZ30, RZ50, etc.), which I think most would agree is preferable. I do apologize to tuan360 for calling his setup "Frankenstein". It was the quickest way I thought to convey that fact that you need additional speaker wire and room in the rack, cabinet, etc. to make it work. Upon reflection, it was "judgey" so please know it was not to put down tuan360's system. One final note on this setup: double the amount of speaker wire can possibly expose bare wire and create a short. I only saw speaker wire clips on the back of the Russound units, which is the weakest form of connection and binding posts are preferred.

You do know when I said "skipped logic and math", that was directed at supermanrob and not tuan360, right? There's no moving of the goalposts anywhere. Reread the entire discussion with this mind set and perhaps you will understand what's going on.

I don't mind you defending supermanrob but he's not a popular guy and creates drama because that's what the algorithm and his handlers demand. Also, I've never seen him apologize for anything so he must be right all the time!

Quite funny!
Hey let's ignore the "first sentence".
Let me "apologize" for being "judgey" then continue to be judgey! LOL
You have heard of electrical tape right(among other options)!?

I don't think blackjakal was defending, he has common sense & completely understands!

I should apologize for my common sense understanding opinion!?

Speaking of "logic and math".
Tuan360 said he did this "for my front towers and center speaker".
That is not 9 channels!
At best based on your speculation, it's only $100.

Same with me and my 676. My htpc and Nvidia Shield Pro connect to the TV so I can get 120Hz and the TV ARCs to the receiver. I can't tell the sound difference between ARC and eARC with the media I consume.
Nice, just looked up in my email and I got my 676 at Frys in June 2018 for $268. Mines still running too.

You lose more than you gain.
This does support HDMI 2.1/8k & offers Dirac Live.
A1EVO negates Dirac.

If there are other areas of your system that you could upgrade---especially the sub or center---I'd do that first. Or acoustic room treatments, if needed. The receiver makes a trivial audible difference compared to that.
