I'm sure it's been mentioned and buried but extended warranty benefit goes away next month which sucks
Uhh yeah I have an Amex, this is not true lol
I'm sure citi fought hard in the bidding process to beat Amex to get the Costco account. Part of the terms were probably to offer better benefits for the customer....

I recently was sold an executive membership from a gold membership with the citi card. Is it really worth it if I spend couple hundred bucks at Costco every month on groceries? Are there any additional benefits with executive membership and a citi card?

$200 spent X12 months =$2400.
$2400x2% for exe membership = $48
$2400x2% for Citi Costco card = $48
Total earned $96 -$120 for membership = -$24
Gold membership =-$60
You can have a Gold Membership with this Citi Costco card. So this Citi Costco credit card would be billed $60 every year instead of getting the $120 executive membership.
$2400x2% Citi Costco card=$48
Total earned $48 - $60 membership =-$12
If you spend more than $250 per month, than the exe membership would be better. Under $250 then stick with Gold and get the Citi Costco card. The Citi Costco card in general, give you benefits like 2 years extended warranty with electronics and travel insurance and car rental insurance. With this card, Use it to go in AND pay instead of carrying the useless plastic membership card and a payment card. If you shop at Costco, idk why you wouldn't get this card for no extra cost with a lot of benefits with it.
I downgraded to Gold because other cards give bonus % cash back. Discover has 5% once a quarter. Chase did before. Wells has 10% up to $400 spend right now.
Do you know if the card is canceled, would the extra 2 year warranty get canceled also?
So I asked one of the rep at Costco and she said that if the card is canceled than the warranty would too but she seems new and hesitated when answering the question like she was unsure. If I were you, I would ask Citi rep since the warranty would be through them and not Costco.

it is a MEMBER benefit. If you're no longer a member, then no benefit. This citicard is specificaly linked to costco membership. You cancel your membership you lose the citicard as well.

You get a 2% annual cash back on Costco purchases with executive membership, so break even on the added cost of executive membership if you spend $3000 annually at Costco. Plus you get at least 2% additional on all Costco purchases when using the Visa card. The 2% annual cashback executive reward is separate from the Visa cashback, making this a very good deal.
Here are the general perks of the Costco Visa:
- 4 percent back on gas, on the first $7,000 per year, then 1 percent after.
- 3 percent back on restaurant and travel purchases.
- 2 percent back on all other purchases from Costco and Costco.com.
- 1 percent on everything else.
- 2 additional years on product warranty.
- No foreign transaction fees.
Executive membership gives you a free household card, so another family member can shop at Costco. There are extra travel benefits when you book airfare, hotel or a rental car through Costco Travel.

The question was if the credit card was cancelled, will you still get the warranty? You do know, you can cancel the credit card but still keep the Costco MEMBERship if you still want to shop there. I know the membership is linked to the card but you can alway unlink/cancel the credit card.....

doubt it bro
no1's got a clear answer but i'll go with a no
i think they'll try to deny warranty claims unless things get super ugly.. and gettin super ugly is exhausting

Why would you cancel the card if keeping the Costco membership? There's no annual fee other than you need to keep the Costco membership.
I do not believe the credit card warranty survives the cancelled credit card.

People have their odd reasons and/or no reasons. I asked a Costco rep to make sure I'm not giving bad info and they said yes, you can cancel the credit card and still keep the membership if you like. For me personally, if I'm still a Costco member, I'll keep the credit card. Like you said, nice benefits with no annual fees as long as your Costco membership is good.
