I'm sure it's been mentioned and buried but extended warranty benefit goes away next month which sucks
Uhh yeah I have an Amex, this is not true lol
I'm sure citi fought hard in the bidding process to beat Amex to get the Costco account. Part of the terms were probably to offer better benefits for the customer....

Thank you. The credit card I use just reduced my limit. Probably, had the card for 20 years. Never been late and most months I pay it off. They said I didn't need that high of a limit. I said how do you know what I might want to buy. But $1,200 isn't even half of what I have now.
Many banks are slashing limits at this time...
most notably, Capital One and some Synchrony accounts. Cap 1 just slashed by venture from $25,000 down to $10,000. I tried 2 different reps and an underwriter and they basically all told me to get stuffed. so I used the $20 off $80 bonus at amazon and once that posts, paying that balance off and closing the venture and walmart card.
Amex tried that with me earlier this year, slashed my $18,XXX card down to $7,000. I called and spoke with a rep and got that limit instantly reinstated.
Oh, Target slashed me too. From $1500 to $700. I don't care because I don't use that card anyway. If that wasn't my oldest account I would have closed it down.
Your credit score or income are not factors in these slashings. They're going by your limits and whether or not you have been at or near your limits or if you even used the card at all.
I have over $400,000 available credit (had about $460k before slashings and closing of accounts due to not using them earlier this year).
Your score will take a little hit but will average out. Just keep your cards' utilization UNDER %30 max at all times (if you carry a balance)
One thing that really puts me off is they don't allow you to use statement credit and only give you those silly Costco certificates.
If you go to a Costco store like 99% of Costco members do, then those "silly" Costco certificates are not a big deal as you can cash it it for cash while paying for your purchases at the checkout register. Actually that is the smart thing to do, unlike some folks who apply their Costco certificates/rewards towards purchases since doing so reduces the qualifying total purchase amount for the 2% executive membership (and Citi Costco 2%) cash back.

Crazy that canceling a credit card messes up your credit score. I just closed a credit card account, because I hadn't used it in years, and my credit score went down.
Yes closing a CC can potentially lower your credit score--depending on how much of a balance you carry across all of your credit cards, doing so could possibly increase your overall credit utilization (i.e., balance to card limit ratio)--especially more so if the canceled card had a high credit limit and zero balance. Also depending on how long you had the card prior to cancellation and the average overall age of your revolving credit accounts, the average overall age can drop too which could result in a small credit score drop as well.
Do you know of any way to get Costco the change the card on an order? I signed up for the citi card online while purchasing a washer/dryer (that we needed ASAP) only to find out that the citi card was not available immediately to purchase it despite instant approval.
Had to purchase on a different card and washer/dryer was installed before the citi card came in.
I really only got the card to get the extra 2 year warranty (for 4 total) to get the good warranty on the washer and dryer. I was wondering if in anyone's experience there is a way to get Costco to change he the order payment method or any way to get the extra 2 yr warrant added in.
If this is the wrong place for this question I apologize. Thanks either way!
I realize this is super old but since it was bumped - Alliant Visa is 2.5% cashback on EVERYTHING - just get one of those and use it everywhere, no categories to track.
Yeah it depends on the person. A few people in this thread said they got approved for $8900, $7000, and $1200. Me and another guy on here got approved for $1200 even though our credit score was over 790. Three weeks later I requested a higher limit because I spend at least $3000 a month so it forced me to pay it off every week to keep using the card. Got approved now for $7000.
My credit score is 817. I was only approved for $5K. Started using it immediately, including purchasing ~$5K in appliances. Had to do so extra payment finagling to keep enough credit the 1st month.
This isn't a good card. The fuel discount isn't even remotely worth the hassle of a card that is basically just a store credit card because it's useless anywhere else, if you base its usefulness on the rewards, which is what you should be doing. Just get a Citi cash rewards and enjoy 2% back EVERYWHERE, and use your cash back rewards EVERYWHERE. 2% at Costco only and only use your rewards once per year and only at Costco is just stupid. The card doesn't do anything better than other options, but the little bit of benefit it provides is worse than most rewards cards. That's why they don't accept anything except Visa, because they want to force you to use their card. I don't even shop at Costco any more because of the bullshit. BJs is just as good and you can use any card, including much better cards such as the Double Cash, Discover IT, or the BofA Cash Rewards card that can get you up to 3.75% back at supermarkets AND wholesale stores if you're a preferred member at BofA.

This is fundamentally wrong.
Your rewards check can be taken to Costco and redeemed for straight up cash.

Again this is factually wrong.
That's a mastercard. You can't use it at Costco directly.
You also get no extended warranty at all with it anywhere- versus 2 extra years with this card anywhere.

Also nonsense.
And they took "only" amex before that.
They always restrict to 1 payment type to reduce cost of processing payments.
And you can use ANY VISA, not just this one.

If you've got top status at BoA you can get 2.625% back on everything- so why are you pissing away money with a 2% card at all?

Another useless rant. This card is useful for Costco members that shop there and spend a good bit of money there. If you spend minimum $250 per month, you can get the exe membership and use this card to get 4% back total. Also the 4% on fuel is better than most cards because it doesn't change every quarter. Like Knightshade said, it's not a store credit. You can take the certificate and redeem it for cash dummy. It even say it on the certificate. That tells me you were never a member. Probably a person that piggy back off of a friend/family membership when they go. You can use other cards like MasterCard or Discover if it's a debit card that require you to enter a pin. Overall, if you don't shop at Costco anymore or have this card or even think about getting this card, why bother writing a useless rant?

From what i know, although the card arrive in like 2weeks, you can request temporary card at costco information desk and start using it to buy. The temporary card is just a paper with barcode.
I dont think they will change the payment method for you though. What you can do is return the previous purchase and buy a new one with the costco citi card
But even then the $99 is less than the extra cash back you'll get from using that card instead of using a 2% card so long as you spend at least $20,000 a year.... which the average person will if they're of the "I only want to use 1 card for everything" sort.
That said- if they're able to get top status with BoA they'd do even better over there where a $99 fee gets you 2.625% back on everything- plus a $100 airline credit and other perks- plus 3.5% back at warehouse clubs and grocery stores (so significantly better than this card)- and 5.25% back on a category of your choice which can include gas.
