So what are the cons? It's not thin, nor light. The camera is hot garbage to me, but the wife uses it for Zoom and hasn't complained yet, so there's that. The screen is ... meh. I mean, our phones have better screens, and I'll bet a $150 phone might as well. At first I was concerned about the 4GB of ram, but honestly, it hasn't been a problem YET. I'm sure, in the future we'll have to revisit this. I would like an ethernet jack, but it's hard to tell because they only use them in the house and we have good wi-fi. If we go on vacation, it might be a different story. Also, 128GB of storage is nothing these days. You will run out fast if you have a lot of media. But this problem isn't exclusive to this particular model, as the majority of laptops are in the same boat. So add the cost of external storage (SD card, external drive, cloud) to the overall price. Finally, the battery life is not good. You'll have to pay more to start getting decent longevity.

Also, the second one I ordered yesterday has already shipped and is supposed to arrive today. That's pretty quick shipping!
1 - Open PowerShell and run this command to add the "Lid Open" options to the Power Settings:
powercfg -attributes SUB_BUTTONS 99ff10e7-23b1-4c07-a9d1-5c3206d741b4 -ATTRIB_HIDE
2 - Then change the Lid Open settings via: Control Panel > Power Options > Change Plan Settings > Change Advanced Power Settings > Power Buttons And Lid > Lid Open Action...
...then change both On Battery and Plugged In to "Do Nothing". Click Apply, then OK your way out.
......which, it turns out, gets over-ridden by the BIOS setting. Lol.
Just note that when removing the old drive, you need to not only remove the screw that holds the card down, you must also unscrew and move the "socket" the screw goes into from the 2242 position to the 2480 position before installing the new 2280 drive. Other than that, it's very easy.

The socket is really just like a short standoff bolt, but you need to move it before installing he longer drive because if you don't, it will press against the middle of the drive and the original screw isn't long enough to reach the motherboard w/o it.
It should be pretty obvious once you open it up and start removing the existing NVMe drive.

The startup is definitely faster after putting the ram in.
Hopefully no BSOD since these cheap ram tends to have higher failure rate.

Even if you are cheap on the initial price, but are willing to make upgrades later, there's always financing options or just straight up by a slighter high end one. And I'm not talking about $1,000 ones, but $300-500 range and trust me, there are plenty of those options with great CPU, RAM, webcam, etc.
It's like trying to pimp out your newly bought base honda civic with you switching out the LEDs headlights, add a spoiler, switch out rims, add in sport seats, etc. At the end, it's still a honda civic. It's still going to be a basic engine that gives you subpar performance. Just buy a better car.
I hope no one takes offense by this post. I just hope people aren't going to treat this computer as like the computer they are going to use for the next 3-5 years.
2 $150 and used 2x256gb nvme leftover including $47 of 2x8gb , which are total is 347 plus taxes.
Due to virtual academy for whole semester/yearly, We borrow chromebook from school and my kids complain on how slow chromebook while doing goggle meet and google class.
Long short story. They do not complain anymore...
Speaking of the cam, it is the same quality with loaned chromebook from school.
$347 total instead of 299 i3. I prefer. This entry level laptop. My kids are happy. I am happy too😁
Notes
Minimally you have to install 8gb ram. Seeing on average 8gb of 12gb used overall. Google chrome mostly use..
Default 4g is to low.....make the system crawling slow....
