Forget the haters! My wife and her aunt have something similar. If the performance is the same, It's a great deal for less tech-savy uses, like home study, or for media consumption. Windows 10 works just fine once you switch out of S mode. Streaming services work, Zoom works, light browsing works (seen the wife with 10 tabs open in Chrome and Edge just fine). They pay bills, do online shopping, write emails - all that stuff. The kids play Roblox and Minecraft. Wife hooks up to the TV to do her workouts. The specs are all low-end, but it is $150.

So what are the cons? It's not thin, nor light. The camera is hot garbage to me, but the wife uses it for Zoom and hasn't complained yet, so there's that. The screen is ... meh. I mean, our phones have better screens, and I'll bet a $150 phone might as well. At first I was concerned about the 4GB of ram, but honestly, it hasn't been a problem YET. I'm sure, in the future we'll have to revisit this. I would like an ethernet jack, but it's hard to tell because they only use them in the house and we have good wi-fi. If we go on vacation, it might be a different story. Also, 128GB of storage is nothing these days. You will run out fast if you have a lot of media. But this problem isn't exclusive to this particular model, as the majority of laptops are in the same boat. So add the cost of external storage (SD card, external drive, cloud) to the overall price. Finally, the battery life is not good. You'll have to pay more to start getting decent longevity.

I'm telling you guys. Avoid these lower end Lenovo laptops. Already purchased and returned two similar models. RAM is soldered and cannot be upgraded. Even running basic tasks on Windows 10 is hard for these to handle, especially with only 4GB of RAM.

On my case:
2 $150 and used 2x256gb nvme leftover including $47 of 2x8gb , which are total is 347 plus taxes.

Due to virtual academy for whole semester/yearly, We borrow chromebook from school and my kids complain on how slow chromebook while doing goggle meet and google class.

Long short story. They do not complain anymore...

Speaking of the cam, it is the same quality with loaned chromebook from school.

$347 total instead of 299 i3. I prefer. This entry level laptop. My kids are happy. I am happy too😁

Notes
Minimally you have to install 8gb ram. Seeing on average 8gb of 12gb used overall. Google chrome mostly use..
Default 4g is to low.....make the system crawling slow....
Must be old old chromebook, but I do congrats to you for getting a great deal and at the same time solve the problem. Making a two birds with one stone solution. ^^

LOL yeah I understand that feeling, usually after 6 passes of stress test a memory would be good for the long run. Even the Crucial ram I got from WIKI post before I surrounded the whole package to my mom I did at least one pass to make sure everything is ok, even Crucial ram = top quality.

BY the way I remembered, people need to pay attention not to put stuff on top of the notebook cover. It is very soft and flex. It may damage and break the Lcd panel on the other side.

Nope, my kids got a brand new chromebook from school, it runs reasonably fast, but it is so buggy. He got kick out from class randomly. I send a message to the teacher and ask about whether other students have the same issue and the teacher confirmed that his students randomly got kick out and he need to let them back into the meeting throughout the day. Anyway, This cheapo laptop solve the problem. My boy hasn't got kick out once since he started using it on Monday. My boy also said all the apps are running faster on this laptop and I haven't add any ram to it.

Chromebook not buggy. Just not enough power and memory.
My kids complaining endless looping on loading. Got kick-out duri g google meet.
Once you reached the memory limit. Chrome os will kill or cut off some running process. Brand new-Loaned chromebooks are amd a4 and 4g ram 🤣....

This deal entry level laptop:
Add minimally 4g ram that is total 8gb. You will see differences. Check memory usage.

I added external 32" qhd too. Better for reading and enough space. Lastime I checked .. 1.5g memory reserved for gpu😁.

Thanks. Really curious to see what the "socket" is.
Quote from Darkon :
The "socket" screws into the hold in the motherboard and then the screw that holds the drive down screws into the socket. The end of the drive is the held between the screw and the socket.

The socket is really just like a short standoff bolt, but you need to move it before installing he longer drive because if you don't, it will press against the middle of the drive and the original screw isn't long enough to reach the motherboard w/o it.

It should be pretty obvious once you open it up and start removing the existing NVMe drive.
Here's a video about that:

Loaned chromebooks are brand new 12" lenovo.
But.... the cpu is weak: amd a4 https://www.amd.com/en/products/a...-9120c-apu with 4g ram.

I checked the price when we received the loaned chromebook right away The market brand new price was $200-$250.

For those willing to test it out 8gb 2133mhz, used acceptable at $9.50

https://www.amazon.com/Dell-SNPTD...B01DRWW442

Remember your other onboard ram will also be slower at 2133mhz instead of the 2400mhz

Only 2 left.

Just got mine turned it on to test it out. It's 150 laptop so wasn't expecting much. That being said I cant even open one browser window window without a big delay. Appreciate the op for excellent price point. For me personally it's going back in the box.

AMD A4 is really really slow, I don't know why AMD does that even for Chrome OS. I use Chrome book for years with intel n3160 and 4GB ram is good enough for it. They pushed too far on the low spec part.shake head

I agree with NogibTC on the part, " ...something wrong." This laptop could play 4k@30, 1080p@60 without frame drop, tested in Youtube using Chrome Browser and Edge Browser. Of course couldn't rule out the slight possibility that you got a lemon and that's something's wrong too. If you have it you might do an exchange.

I might do an exchange. I did do a total reset and let it get stable and pretty much the same thing.
